Crazy Taxi feat. Paris Marx
It's the free one!
Paris Marx from Tech Won’t Save Us joins Riley and Alice to discuss the Uber Files - a trove of documents confirming Uber was doing what we were alleging it was doing the whole time. But first, we review a fight between a practitioner of the Reddit style and a master of the Page Six style.

The Dutch government used AI for fraud detection in one of the benefits systems and it very quickly broke GDPR rules and was also racist.
Robodebt was ended, but the Australian government is instead pushing through with an algorithm to run the points -bases "mutual obligations" system. Its called Workforce Australia and you will be hearing about it a lot in the near future. Absolute nightmare material.
The secret ingredient is crime. Truly words to live by.
One of the great podcaster sleights of hand is mispronouncing Imgur. Don't think I've ever heard a co-host or guest correct it, though it is a field where gif with the voiced velar plosive is rampant.
Centrelink is still issuing robodebt-like claims. The scumbag lawyers on the class action lawsuit settled out of court so the Department of Human Services was never ruled to have done anything wrong. Mates of mine got back a pitiful amount of money after being robodebted. It's a thing that could happen to any of us on Centrelink at any time again.
I received a debt notification under Centrelink's robo-debt scheme - it was incorrect and required me to dig up/obtain payslips from former employers going back several years to resolve. They knew it was going to generate overwhelming false positives and they regarded that as a feature.
Locking yourself into the office is a great sweeps week gimmick
Why can't I download this anymore? I bike through a fucking gsm deadzone.
Holy shit they turned it back on. moan.wav
rename the patrons’ feed to TrashFuture+
The free one should be the regular, the 5 pound tier the +, and the 10 pound one the MAX+
oh also as the self-appointed guy who says 'ban all cars' when transpo is discussed on an ep: ban all cars
The word robodebt still gives me an aneurysm. I got my benefits cut off despite being pretty fucking permanently blind, which by some miracle I got fixed, but it caused SO much anxiety and torment for anyone on Centrelink. But that was the central feature of the system. Keep the poor desperate.
this story has drove me completely nuts. the only outlet that I've seen have a half-reasonable take on this bs is Jalopnik, who correctly pointed at Macron for acting totally illegally in favour of Uber in france. While all other media is trying to pull some kinda watergate pentagon paper shit yeah as you're saying proving what we all knew. Looking forward to listening to the collective pyrrhic victory lap over this edit: "President Macron Sold Out France to Uber, And Says He'd "Do it Again"". now that's what I call a headline
Was hoping y’all would do an episode on this Uber bullshit. Thanks!
