1001 Arabian NFTs feat. Dominik Leusder

The gang delves into the realm of a movie being entirely funded by NFTs and filmed in the only place less real than NFTs (Neom.) Then, Riley speaks with Dominik Leusder from the Eurotrash podcast and LSE Ideas about how exactly energy got so wildly expensive.

One of the reasons (but not the most important reason, which is the “BONUS” horny content) is that this is one of very few places-spaces that offer a lucid response to the financial and fiduciary madness unfolding all around us. This was a great interview, and should be heard by more people.

Love to listen to a podcast about how the energy sector is completely insane while working my completely insane energy sector job. Feels like I'm travelling unshielded through the Warp.

"So we're doing a big classical epic. Story of a former slave who became one of the most revered poets in Arabic literature. It's got it all: action, drama, sweeping vistas, spirituality...some real Ben Hur shit. The only question is who do we get to direct it?" "Do you remember that Jennifer Lopez movie The Cell?" "What?" "You know, the one where Vincent D'Onofrio suspends himself from the ceiling on hooks and jerks off onto the naked corpse of a woman he's murdered?" "You're a fucking genius. Get that director's agent on the phone!"

The Fall is about as much of a love letter to the era of bin Hur [sic] filmmaking as any other. 🤷

I was at the Media Production Show last week, which Neom sponsored. They were trying to push it hard as a brand new & unique film production destination, along with sweeping shots of the scenery which admittedly looked quite impressive. Then, in a couple of shots about 5 seconds long at the end of the presentation video, they showed the "production hub", which was just a bunch of fancy caravans sitting in the middle of an entirely empty desert.

I had some tertiary (professional) exposure to YouTuber money management a few years ago. It struck me as being largely similar to professional athlete money management, so I'm not shocked that the prestige class for YouTubers who hit their level cap is landlord.
