Guy Ritchie Presents White Widow Super Cheese
We retvrn to tradition (we unwound by watching a recent-era Guy Ritchie movie). Geezer Hugh Grant, Eddie Marsan gets romantic with a pig, and everyone is really upset about… dealing weed? Journey with us into the mind of a confused old man, as we review THE GENTLEMEN.

Between all of the Simpsons quotes and his love of Gay Ritchie movies, Riley is a Gen X-er born ten years late.
Makes you think that outspoken anti-racist and worm in the form of a schoolboy, Eddie Marsan, was happy to be in a movie that can't go 5 mins without a bit of bizzare racism/misogyny/anti-semitism
"Would Keir Starmer go on LBC and say he's opposed to sex in all forms" - well on the basis of the argument made by Richard Seymour in his latest post (that modern authoritarians base their appeal on cosplaying unconstrained enjoyment) that is what Starmer, in all his stern, libido-free Calvinist greyness, represents.
I don’t know why I assumed Guy Richie would look like Geraldo Rivera, but I’m disappointed he doesn’t
Covid has only made Milo's voices Starmer than ever.
don't fret Riley i also love the Starmer reading different shit
allright I guess might as well *ahem* I *welcome* the Starmer voice, but I think it could have gone *further*
I am flabbergasted to find out this movie isn't from like 2007 like I assumed. I was very confused for a bit
call me a little baby boye but the talking about the good shows Netflix has published despite the will of the top dogs reminded me of The Dragon Prince my god that's the only reason I hope Netflix doesn't implode before it's done in 2030 or whatever
Milo needs to do his Irish accent more.
Feeling validated in my...decision to avoid contemporary pop culture and just throw on old Adults Swim like it's 2004 and l'm stoned in my dorm room
And the actor who played the Hitman at the end of A Long Good Friday? Why it was a Young Pierce Brosnan!
The Gentlemen is a movie that's exclusively watched on international flights
Thank you TF for doing this, I'm fitting a bathroom for a very nice older lady who has for the last week been bringing me cups of tea and asking if I've seen the gentleman yet, cause it's her favourite film and "hugh grants best since Paddington 2". So you've saved me a few hours of my non work life.
In Czech the film is called “Gentlemani” - so taking the English singular and pluralising it like a Czech masculine-animate word. It sounds a bit stupid, but it could just as easily have ended up as “Džentlmen” which looks stupid. Honestly idk which is worse.
On the Trashfuture being the string quartet on the Titanic: Sure, but the podcast is also grounding for me. Its a small pleasure to have people tell you "Yes, the techbro's are gasslighting you, you are not insane. They are". In the past, they used to just make dumb apps that did not work, but at least had a sort-of plausible idea behind it. With the new crypto-guys... I mean it does not even work on THEIR TERMS, and it is stupidly inefficient. I feel like we are on the titanic, but the passengers with stupid face tattoos are telling me "Everything is fine. I am mining water pumps as we speak"
Correction, old techbro's "applied technical solutions to political problems" , which were doomed to fail. But at least they acknowledged the problem. Crypto guys just "apply technology.".
As soon as I heard the name operation big dog I knew the bit would be perfect
There's a bit where Charlie asks Aslan where he's from, and Aslan replies 'Disneyland'. I'm absolutely sure the original answer was Narnia, but Netflix made him change it.
Was this straight to streaming in Britain? This was in theaters in America in the beginning of 2020.
I saw it at a cinema in Britain, as far as I know it's only recently come to Netflix.
I welcome the Keith Starmer reading, but I would ask Riley to go further and do an Episode 1 Joe Biden style episode, but for myself. (Keith Starmer)
I feel like you should do Revolver next, which is his 'I married Madonna and now I'm into Kabbalism' film.
The last film featuring Jason Statham's hair, I believe.
lol at Britain being vanilla perverts
I'd forgotten that i'd watched this film, so much so that I remembered scenes and characters only as they were being described. Listening to this episode was like an acid trip with TF forming an audible hallucination
It's the cockney one!
