Bins, Mate: TF Reviews 'Years & Years Episode 6' feat Bryan Quinby and Devon
This is it. The end of the series. Some of the worst, twee-est, most Lib Dem writing you'll ever encounter. We watched it to the end, and we brought on Street Fight Radio's Bryan Quinby (who recommended this series in the first place!) to discuss, along with our special Y&Y correspondent, Devon. Hope you enjoy!

DBZ Abridged voice: how do you know about the parts you weren't there for
New Years And Years just dropped... https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/73_Yards_(TV_story)
I do think "stepping in a fairy circle causes fascism" is more grounded than whatever happened in Years and Years
I really have to say that I am very happy the sex noises stopped now that I am going back through a lot of the backlog.
BINS MATE!

I think RTDs tenuous grasp of science and the future is perfect for Doctor Who, where the lack of consistency is almost the point, which is why there are episodes set in a 100000 years time where there are no humans left and then ones at the literal end of the universe where it's somehow only humans (and one single alien). It just adds to the charm. Doesn't translate so well to prestige political TV though.
Well done, TF. Next up: The Comey Rule.
One thing I will say is that the concentration camps killing people with a disease isn't actually badly observed: Britain has done wayyyy more genocides than the Nazis ever managed and we never needed to literally pull out the Zyklon B. In fact, one of our first big genocidal hits was using a disease with the fucking plague blankets. If the only way he could think to portray a genocide was *literally the Nazis*, I'd call it hack, so I'm actually giving him some minor points here. The real problem is that in RTD's mind, this makes these concentration camps somehow quaint and "very British" rather than just a product of genocidal experience, which is utterly insufferable.
*Rocking Up to the concentration camp in a flat cap* "Potato man."
Heh, the whole "A Wizard Will Do It" theory of mainstream British politics also fits with the whole idea of the "Brits are really 40K Orks". Enough people believe that Britain is a real country, so it just sort of muddles along a little longer. If enough people say the right thing and feel the right thing, nothing happens anyways because no one believes it can change.
You've ruined that lovely series for me!💔xxx
You helped me identify all the things I hated about the Dr Who episodes written by Russell T Davies.
Didn’t he want a Tony Blair look-alike to play the Prime Minister who goes missing but they couldn’t find someone convincing enough to play the role, lol
The team called it Lib Dem Children of Men, and while I haven’t seen it and never want to, it’s sounding to me like a very dumb and lib version of the near-future bits of Ken MacLeod’s Fall Revolution novels.
no more Years and Years episodes cos th' populists took 'em away :(
24:45 In a sense, one could say "I never asked to be born, I don't owe nobody shit" (Yes, months later, I am still stuck on combination lambo/comemerative coin dispute bit)
