The Wicker Mound feat. James Meadway

A great happening has come to London. A marker of power has arisen. Fell deeds awake as we enter the era of the Mound.

Also, James Meadway (@meadwaj) returns to discuss the fading of the neoliberal paradigm and it’s replacement with something different and worse.

This is like the 5th warhammer mention in 5 episodes. Can we pls get a episode or mention of the boycott/wages issues? Sigmarxism is a good page to start

I've not heard of this actually. Can you fill me in? I mean it's not surprising to find Games Workshop is evil (because that's the case for all companies, naturally) but didn't know this was going on.

Why do l get the feeling that the TF VIP lounge is some sort of Slaaneshi corruption scheme? And if Patrick Wyman comes on too many more times will he just find himself taking the mantle of the Piss-Guy-at-Bergheim?

I think that the "ideology is over" idea is a given, since "ideology" has more-or-less always meant "a set of moral principles". Capital has never been exceptionally keen on that. Now and again it pretends otherwise.

okay wait so neoliberalism is on the wane and replaced by ... authoritarian state capitalism? or patronage? both?

The reason I (Riley) think this is worth talking about is the following: capital is facing some issues that elements of the old neolib paradigm were poorly suited to tackle, and so is making adjustments in its approach. If I was to be a lazy man, I would say it will only be obvious what those adjustments amount to in retrospect. What's obvious now is that certain things we used to pretend for ideological reasons the state could not do, the state is doing (in some limited ways). Not so much "Neoliberalism is over," but "certain core organising elements of the neoliberal ideology seem to be changing," and when enough of those changes occur in the fullness of time, you will be able to say in retrospect "neoliberalism had ended at some point."

Rhine capitalism looking like it's going to win on distance in the Neoliberalism title fight, surprise result on the mound today!

Hearing about the mound & its dumb purpose just makes me think that there really is no one who actually wants to stop climate change, when push comes to shove. We're just stuck in the mind palace for eternity. Only performative gestures will do.

They're only TERFs if they come from the TERF region of the Spectator opinion column, otherwise they're just sparkling bigots.
