We've finished the Lib Dem wet dream series Years & Years, and we are joined by Devon (of Da Youtube Zone and the Kill James Bond podcast) to discuss.

Augustus interestingly abolished popular elections because his candidates(pro-Tiberius) ones kept losing to the populists affiliated with his daughter Julia. When Julia's grandson Gaius became Emperor as Caligula he restored them but then found that no one would run for office because it was cheaper for the candidates to bribe each other to divvy them up. His reaction was unpopular with the Senate.
