Britainology 16: Dogging feat. Hussein Kesvani
Now unlocked to the $5 tier!
We greatly appreciated the suggestion from twitter user @underscoreJoeyB about an episode centered on dogging--the British phenomenon of meeting in the woods for anonymous sex. We brought on Kent's finest podcaster and our cohost Hussein Kesvani to discuss it, and to prepare for it we watched a horrific Channel 4 documentary from 2013 called 'Dogging Tales.' It's a whole hell of a lot!

I know that this is NOT a podcast episode about dogs and how they make Hussein (and most reasonable people, IMO) feel (forget if it was a TF or WAHOAWTD), but I was reminded about that conversation while talking to a friend who lives in Argentina, and we were talking about wild dogs. They had told me that most of the time the street dogs there were pretty chill and social, or simply afraid of humans. Here I am, in Canada, having lived in a rural area, being chased on my bike by unleashed dogs, having run into wild dogs in the woods on occasion and had to book it like in a horror movie, wearing sandals and fucking tripping... to the point that even on a leash I stay the f- away from dogs and try to actively not look at them, intentionally ignore their existence, just because of how anti-social most dogs are with people from outside the home. idk Love cats, hate dogs, simple as.
Also, surely it would be called "The DogCast"?
I'm very lucky to be in a place in Cornwall where there's a whole valley of woodland on my doorstep you can walk through, and I don't have that experience of being miserable. I guess it's a Kent thing, but can understand where Hussein's coming from. I've yet to stumble on anyone fucking in the woods, though there are certain places I know of that have potential 😆 I did once stumble while drunk on two people doggystyle fucking on the beach late at night in Weston Super Mare (in many ways, the Kent of the South West) though. I just remember hearing a woman moaning and thinking I imagining it, then I saw them. I just sort stopped dead like a deer in the headlights, didn't know what to do. Cops walked past, turned around around and they were gone. I gotta admire that speed of decamping.
Is this going to find its way to the RSS feed?
remember when the milkman was 'ard?
Shout out to the doggers who outraged the local village they shag in by inviting a passing group of pensioners to join in
I don't know if you've done an episode on pubs yet, but if you haven't then you might want to check out "passport to the pub", an anthropological study of British pub culture: http://www.sirc.org/publik/pub.html
Terrible Brummie accent guys. It's all in the vowels, elongated vowels
What is that music at the start?
here you go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J77C9ODFflw
when I was 15 I found some people dogging in a derelict canal pier because I was looking for water type pokemon lmao
Shout out to the Stanmore doggers, especially the guy who's always listening to the Archers when I walk past

Did not expect an episode about dogging to make me feel existential ennui but here we are
A+ episode
Hearing someone Fathers 4 Justice just rammed that one guy climbing the building to the front of my mind and honestly that group is a Britainology in itself.
When's the Buckfast episode :P
Fml can't believe it took an episode on fucking DOGGING to get me to up my subscription tier.
this is exactly what I expected at this tier
..I think I've come to the conclusion that the only intense, immediate hate that I have left in me is "british:ism vernacular". It makes perfect sense to me that public sex would be called "dogging" (which I had to google), because it needlessly invites this extra-level of gross assumption that there's beastiality involved. All british:ism is needlessly confusing, annoyingly inscrutable when you first hear it, and by the time you take the time to look up the etymology of the word or phrase, you're further irritated that this garbage culture is once again wasting your time learning their word-swap-cipher-shit. British culture is if someone consistently - for decades - insisted that you take klingon seriously.
I want a Britainology on the unhinged splendour of nan magazines, Take a Break, Chat etc
I feel like trying to explain to Americans the concept of George Galloway would be a great episode
Too chaotic for a Tuesday afternoon
Oh this is going to be deeply cursed isn’t it
Yes, screamed at this notification
