LTNs exist in new york where i live. their main antagonism does come from weirdos who just hate pedestrians and bicyclists, but a lot of disabled people also dislike them because it sometimes literally makes them unable to leave the house. i don't think disabled people are ever considered when it comes to "lowering car traffic"
The Local Facebook group thing reminds me of the time some people were kicked out of my local FB group for being way too edgy so they set up their own "uncensored" version of the group... and also paid to have a big sign made that read: "JOIN THE [REDACTED] HUB FACEBOOK GROUP ALL WELCOME unless you have an opinion that differs from the admin's. then you will be removed with no explanation. BUT DON'T LET THAT PUT YOU OFF!" and hung it on the fence leading out from the train station, next to the main road through the town.
I do love when Hussein's on. Always more chill. And I'm still not over the wholesomeness of him and Grace Blakely sharing a mutual weeb moment over Yugio. I'm also getting the image of a vintage gamer bro bazz complaining about the 8-bit boobs being too small on his little Amiga console. And he just insists on yelling about it at anyone on the street willing to listen.
good ep. just on Hussein's point about nick griffin and how he would have just been a normal Tory if he wasn't so attention seeking - got to push back on that. Dude has been a hardcore Strasserite/Nazbol since the 80s and was big in the national front before breaking off. Was key in 'intellectual' development of Third Position fascism in the UK. He definitely moderated his image/watered things down deliberately when he was BNP leader, to appear as if he was basically just a 50% more overtly racist Tory. If you go on his Twitter now you'll see he's gone back to full Strasserite derangement. Hardcore Nazism mixed in with revolutionary 'socialism' (for White ppl obviously). 100% not Tory material, way too out there PS love this configuration, very chill!
He also works for Orban's gov now last I heard, so good to see "cared" enough about the country to abandon it for working in Hungary. 😆
