Britainology Episode 1: A Clump from Dave Courtney
Welcome to the inaugural episode of Britainology, in which Milo makes Nate watch something terminally British and then explains it. This week, we're watching a documentary about self-described celebrity gangster Dave Courtney, a crime doorman who thinks he runs Britain.
If you want to watch the original documentary, it's available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqARxpCpZU4
Our theme song for this series is from the 'Visit to Primrose Hill Extended Version' of the 1993 Blur song 'For Tomorrow,' which Nate picked because it was formative in teaching him various aspects of London geography and it's premium old millennial / young gen xer nostalgia bait. Got some bad news
Surprised Milos never heard the phrase "giving a clump", feel like it's a fairly common thing I heard my parents say
More Britainology, please!
this is amazing, both the ep subject and you two's bants and flows. didn't have any idea of what a dave courtney is at the start, by the end i was absolutely awed and rolling with laughter at the same time. more of britainology please.
as an aussie who was born in the east end and whose first accent was cockney this made me so weirdly nostalgic for the (shit) life i could have had if my parents hadn't moved us back to aus
This episode was so funny. Looking forward to learning about all the different types of English guys along with Nate and all of the rest of the non-English listeners.
I tried rewatching Lock, Stock a decade ago, it was unwatchable. Gave up after 10 minutes. This is amazing, I hope you guys continue this.
This is the best podcast offshoot thing I have ever heard.
This was absolutely brilliant, more please. Agree that Nate and Milo is the power TF couple we didn't know we needed.
loved this guys
Nate and Milo is a power configuration fr. This was brilliant and I definitely want more of it!
Looking forward to an episode on Last of The Summer Wine.
I think I just felt my lungs collapse from laughing so hard! This is pure gold! It's gonna take me a while to recover 馃槀 Also, I swear this proof that for every macho cultural archetype, there always a deep homo erotic sus text underneath, that said macho guys would never realise, nor admit to. Being fascinated with big 'well 'ard men in one of those things. I swear Dave Courtney must just have a Bear kink but doesn't wanna say it out loud. It's okay Dave, plenty of people do! 馃槀
Who would win in a fight 30-50 Feral Hogs or 30-50 well 'ard flat nosed geezers?
Love clumpin, 'ate coppers, simple as
