Slow Midas feat. Charles Star

We temporarily pivot to America because we have the opportunity to speak with Charles Star, a friend of the show and a law understander, who can give us insight into just how much the U.S. Supreme Court has retooled itself to enable total right-wing capture. However, we also have a chance to speak about Trump’s ballroom, its impossible proportions, its Sims-tier design, and Trump’s own declaration that gold is “God’s favourite metal.”

laws aren't real and exist only to oppress those without power. Did I miss anything?

There is an alternative to doomerism. Because doomerism implies that it's sad that the world we live in is going to shit. But what if you could look at the slow crumbling of the status quo and NOT be sad about it? What if - instead of crying about how bad the reactionaries, how spineless & ineffective the liberals are or how leftists keep getting rat f***ed & crushed by the combined forces of the establishment - you divorce yourself from the system and advocate for its demise? It's high time we start talking openly and seriously about ENDING capitalism. There has never been a better time to do so, because its failures have never been so obvious. Capitalism has fulfilled NONE of the promises it made when there was still an adversary and therefore a need to pretend there is a vision of a golden future in this system. The ruling class has never been so nakedly corrupt, decadent and monstrous. I for one will not waste years of my life fighting for reforms to make this murderous misery machine maybe do a little bit less harm . Instead I will invest my limited time on this planet advocating for DISMANTLING the god damn thing.

Well the thing is that like, we've seen this before in the 90s. During the breakup of the USSR, there was this kind of hopeful optimism of "everything we know is gone, maybe things will get better now". That was the case for some people, and it wasn't for others. Any global breakdown of capitalism will not immediately allow you to start building socialism. It'll only let you start building the structures to try and gain power to build socialism like, 30 years in the future. Probably while the world burns around you. To me that sounds fine, but to a lot of people that's not really a very optimistic idea.

re: gaudiness and gold decorations, i think trump has the interior design taste of a european immigrant grandmother. both my grandmother (sicilian) and my partner's grandmother (bosnian) had very ostentatious design sensibilities, lots of gold, pearls, and glass beads.

Theres a few people ive seen hypothesising that the ballroom is actually just a cover for a combination tel aviv style military intelligence datacentre and a mount cheyenne style military operations nuclear bunker. the drey dossier channel on youtube had some interesting claims with some mediumly convincing evidence... Should look into it (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VbJ4ilDvGyc)

Idk i think if trump wanted to build infrastructure to help Da Troops he'd just say so and like 75% of the dems criticising him for the ballroom would be like OF COURSE SIR MR PRESIDENT SIR

I noticed Milo’s projects weren’t shouted out at the end - schism confirmed?

V
Vanessa P · September 15, 2026

I mean his tour dates are still very much advertised in the description and one of his other projects Glue Factory is now on indefinite hiatus (and his MooD appearances are increasingly sporadic) so it seems like he just doesn't have time for podcast these days

The US supreme court has obviously gone off the rails for a long time (CF Bush v Gore) but for me a real hinge point was Kennedy v. Bremerton School District. In which the liberal dissent contained literal photographic evidence proving the conservative argument wrong. But who are you going to believe, what this week's right wing ghoul wants* or your lying eyes? *Unless it effects the judge's 401k

The list of things people say Trump isn't allowed to do but he keeps doing anyway get's larger everyday and I can't stand it anymore.

before this i was listening to the Lions series on the Imjin War wherein the increasingly senile de-facto shogun pranced around writing poems and plays and building castles while paying absolutely no attention to the disastrous war he started out of his own megalomaniac desire to rule the known world; so I guess trump is in his weeb era
