The Railluminati feat. Gareth Dennis

First of all: mea maxima culpa for having trusted the hated professional news media about a certain fictive elf's grave. We're endeavouring to do better. And in that spirit we've brought on Gareth Dennis, host of Railnatter on YouTube and the Trainsatlantic podcast. Somehow, Gareth has the ability to make Andy Burnham do what he tells him, and we're discussing the future of Great British Railways, plus a deeply cryptic AI-for-British-Rail pamphlet, and our theory that we can only save the UK economy by building Ultra-Manchester (which includes a Mound).

Yes, but what does it say about Harry Potter fans that everyone believed it without question? :)

The thing about the platform 9 3/4 is that 1) platforms 9+ are in the new build part of the station, not the main trainshed. 2) patforms 9 and 10 are separated by two sets of tracks so the layout goes: P10 | track | track | P9 | Wall Anyway liberate my beloved station from yoke of HP. Give permenant free tenancy of the shop to a trans charity

I was listening to the last episode of Remember Shuffle about the Eurozone crisis and they mentioned that the UK's economy wasn't really in danger and they didn't have any EU brakes on doing stimulus but the Tories decided to just do austerity anyways for zero reason and now everyone has to live with the consequence of this

I was so mad about the Harry Potter people and now I am so mad that I have to retract my earlier indignation because I love to be given reasons to be mad at people whose entire personality is Harry Potter fandom.

Vibe coding update: wow, who could have predicted this, apart from everyone who did? https://calnewport.com/on-ai-coding-and-its-discontents/ "He told me that features he generated using Claude Code ended up crashing their product on two different occasions. His boss told him that if it happened one more time, he’d be fired. “I’ve never had quality issues like this before in my career.” The problem is that code produced by an AI agent looks reasonable, but can contain ‘hard-to-spot bugs’ that end up causing major problems. As a result, you should carefully review your agent’s output, but this is difficult. As the engineer told me, it’s “famously hard” to understand code you didn’t write yourself, so this extra step becomes “easy to just blow it off (especially when we are all trying to ‘10x’ our velocity).” Soon, systems start to break." Damn who could have fucking thought this you dipshit? Ah maybe all those people you cunts called "cultish luddites who are terrifyingly disconnected from reality in their attempts to prove AI isn't useful"? Fucking hell computer touchers are so stupid. No wonder Kemi Badenoch used to be one

they love their little plugin that makes them feel efficient so much and completely lack the intelligence to grasp the broader social or even productivity ramifications of making a dumb program write all your code

As mentioned earlier, Rebecca Watson played the podcast clip of the line planner dude talking about the whole imaginary grave public pressure incident, it's seemingly quite true - not to be a dobby downer or anything ,it just happened a while ago- link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPFS4auVYzE seems like a chill dude though would've been preferred to have caved to public pressure of almost anything else instead (I've justified the repeat post to myself by including the link so uhh, yeah!)
