(700) Days of Starmer

I can’t believe he’s gone… he had so many relaunches left in him. We reflect on the premiership of Keir Starmer and ponder what awaits this country under Burnham, before reading the poem that proves AI generated art is just as worthwhile as anything done by a human.

Is Milo gone from TF?

T
Tovfly · June 26, 2026

He's on tour doing comedian stuff. They just didn't put out an announcement and now everyone's going mad wondering why.

I am going to a dark room to ponder the concept of Keir Starmer being more authentic than Jeremy Corbyn but while I'm there I'll also be blaming Starmer for Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights which I think we'll come to recognise as emblematic of his whole regime.

Does Burnham wear the Steve McQueen jacket? Because Trump would actually love that

J
John Harwood · June 25, 2026

It's a lot like Napoleon's 100 days, but with a bit more anti-social behaviour.

J
J. Haskin · June 24, 2026

So this is how it ends. Not with a bang, but with a Starmer

S
Sadie · June 24, 2026

I don't know if it was intentional or not but November not knowing the difference between Liverpool and Manchester regarding YNWA during her starting bit absolutely ended me.

C
Cate Kneale · June 25, 2026

Oh I think she knew.

May Starmer have the retirement he deserves. Let history remember him for holding the door open for fascism to take root.

Seems like a real shame to not have Milo for this episode. Is he coming back ?

c
chrysanthemum · June 24, 2026

Did they kill Milo. Is he in the bunker with MancFuture

J
Joseph Oswald · June 25, 2026

Keir Starmer resigns and we don't get a single good impression.

Re: 20:00 in, part of the issue is that no party has the balls to say NO! to pensioners, including the Greens which is part of why I'm sceptical of their potential.

only Nixon can go to China, only Clinton can reform entitlements, and only a human rights lawyer can do a hatchet job to every human right in the county

Starmer's letter to the a King apparently contained these lines: Whilst planting barley, I hear lesser cuckoo's song, From within my house; Simple, quiet, decency Is planted for the next life [I've been doing this stupid bit for ages but was also caught out by it actually happening]

A
Axel Ottel · June 24, 2026

Ah, the traditional British death poem written before committing honourable seppuku

M
Maggie+Al · June 23, 2026

I'm hoping the UK gets the full ALP special and Starmer just spends the next 3 years getting messy like Kevin Rudd

N
Noblese Oblahaj · June 23, 2026

I would kind of like an episode that's an etymology of the fucking ID card obsession

W
Wawawawa · June 23, 2026

Unless etymology means something different here, they did this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mt0qCeIz1s many fond memories listening to this while under a fume hood.

Look, you can have a data center in your back garden or you can have Hamas in your back garden. Pick one.

B
B.Z. · June 23, 2026

I'm still confused why.... Starmer resigned? There wasn't any major scandal (compared to any other thing under his leadership), he didn't lose a vote, or get kicked out by the party. Why do British PMs resign so easily and frequently?

B
B.Z. · June 23, 2026

I guess Canada doesn't have an equivalent of these local council elections for a party to lose, the closest thing I can think of is losing a vote of no confidence, or losing an election.

The Winter Fuel Allowance sounds like some actual Dickensian, oh please sir, may I have some more? bullshit.

J
James Rule · June 23, 2026

Winter Fuel Allowerance sounds like a throw away line from 1984.

*Starmer voice* I welcome the bulgariafication of British politics. At least everyone who comes after me has even less time in power.

J

I would've have encouraged him to go further. 😭 Left us too soon

Sadly as a Liverpool fan I cannot support Burnham. It's one thing to be a centrist worm, another from Manchester, but its too much being an everton supporter on top of that

Ahhh, from my second-hand exposure to the press yesterday I thought everything would be perfect now starmer has gone. 28minutes into this episode and I'm packing opium into a cigarette and trying not to cry before I get the paper sealed...

N

It seems like you're just feeding PMs to the columnist class

We've been over this, it's not all of them it's just distressed ones in captivity. Most reproduce perfectly non-lethally, albeit yes to some degree incestuously

V
Vanessa P · June 23, 2026

Wes Streeting, as it turns out, failed to become Prime Minister because Andy Burnham is better at being Wes Streeting than Wes Streeting.

J
Josephine · June 23, 2026

Its annoying that he's got the terf brainstorms enough so that he genuinely believes they are actually reasonable and not enough so that he thinks it has an organic base of power

S
SM · June 23, 2026

Starmer actually just welcomed his own resignation, and called upon the government to go further, suggesting perhaps the entire Parliament be dissolved and the Labour Party be dismantled, and something about a toolmaker.
