Sam Bankman Unfreed feat. David Z. Morris

We invited friend of the show David Z. Morris, author of “Stealing the Future: Sam Bankman-Fried, Elite Fraud, and the Cult of Techno-Utopia,” to discuss his book and some recent developments in even dumber AI. But the truth is, most of this episode is about a tactical chud bespoke suit company called Brimble and Clark. No matter how dumb you think it’s going to be, you’re not even close.

Get David’s book here! And check out his site here!

there was a tweet I’ll never find again but it was a picture of Jeffery Donovan portraying Steve Forsing based on real life Delta Force guy Mike Vining in Sicario (2015) and the caption was something like “men see this movie once and never get over wanting to be him” and now that’s an entire subculture

It was 3 guys with a pencil which he indeed did find. By the way Elon Musk was in Iron Man 2 fanboying Tony Stark and Tony told him to fuck off. Never forget. Also in John Wick 2 John does get shot in the back and only survives because of his suit, he actually is pretty much constantly is saved by the bulletproof suit. These guys must think they’re better than John Wick if they think any amount of tactical chud suit will save them from getting shot in the back.

Everyone should listen to Articles of Interest's Gear series. It's about how the US military influences fashion. As a Bay Area native it's been a little sad to see the decline of the techies. Time was the guy who got rich by selling a start-up would just semi-retire and make beer or large-scale sculptures.

I have visited the location on Brimble & Clark’s website on 6/13/2026; it appears to be a residential loft unit turned into the show room. Idk how far the hosts want to run this bit (kpmg domain email ask😭) but I have enough information to book a consultation and ask them exactly who and what a Brimble is, and what Clark has to do with it. Idk if anyone else has experience with “you called me to action so I’m here”… what’s the best way to catch their attention? I’m not trying to take a few hours off work to pretend to be “vetting a suiting process for a director impressed by your client portfolio” if they’re not actually that interested in the bit

Daggers in the lapel sounds like they’re specifically trying for a callback to the OSS, except they famously stopped sewing them into lapels and collars because it started to be the first place nazis looked for “daggers” (they were the length of an average thumb) sewn into clothing. My point being, other than “hey, what fucking losers” , is that in an actual “situation” your captors would be ripping open every seam on anybody dressed like this, if they didn’t just shoot them first

The EA tech elitists have offloaded any responsibility for their actions onto the idea of a deity (tailored in their own image) that they imagine is telling them "yeah no it's cool, we're friends", meaning they've independently re-developed Protestantism. The neoliberals had their turn with subordinating their own ethics to only serve The Market, now I guess it's time for the worst fuckers you can think of to bend and twist society into only serving The God Of Being Good At Going On The Computer. I have a personal relationship with our savior the emdash and He told me everything I do is morally justified.

So... they're re-inventing peacocking... Wait are these the same dudes that did Jorple's outfits? Oh no. They are not. There's multiple of these guys. Pan's Inflatable Goat, Why are these fascists so cringe? Why are they so fucking cringe. They want to be mafiosos so bad. Also I wonder what the menswear guy ... Did he cause this by clowning on their inept sartoriality? While Nova is correct in "autoandrophile" or what I have seen is also "MtM transmasc" but they're too misanthropic to be any sort of -phile.

As best I can tell Brimble and Clark has that name to evoke British vibes. The D.C. Corporations Division shows neither a Brimble nor a Clark as members of the LLC. I did find an amusing interview with Mr. Asim Khan where he said he would not be taking on any COVID loans backed by the government, though. (The company took $17,190 in Paycheck Protection Program loans. Many such cases.)
