I just joined the Patreon today and this was my first episode
Breakfast Hold-Update
S tier ep
ngl i forgot that there were supposed to be bones in my favorite food review podcast
I have never heard of goldschläger before. When I looked it up, wikipedia said it's a swiss cinnamon schnaps. I live in switzerland, never heard of it never seen it and I can't find it in any swiss online shop. I did not expect this rabbit hole while listening to the boney island white fish
this is the best episode of boney island whitefish and you all deserve an award
thank you for not spoiling it in the title
The episode-length chime made me start laughing so hard I cried
Bad king John which is a downgrade from daddy'sboy lackland
The croissant/kipferl are famously spite based breads The croissant by the French to thumb their nose at the Austrians, the kipferl by the Austrians to spite the Turks
This is my favorite re-watch podcast for a show that I'm never going to watch. Pretty sure it's not a real show and you all just make up the plot every week. I give this episode five out of five solid gold bones.
Really experimenting with the form there guys, kudos.
10/10 perfect episode. I’ll accept this format anytime.
Clearly breakfast is the most important part of the day!!!
this was delightful never apologise
Of course Riley has a friend who predicts the collapse of society on the regular.
All my friends hate me is good!
Riley having the exact same “ciabatta as a spite driven, Italian answer to the baguette” anecdote as I tell customers at the bakery where I work, should not surprise me but I was doing the Leo pointing at his screen emote anyway
I was practically yelling at my phone, so glad you invited us to chime in: CROISSANTS ARE A SPITE-BASED BREAD! They were invented during the crusades to celebrate some victory against the Ottomans and eating a crescent moon-shaped pastry is intended as a way to mock the Muslim faith. ...aaaand having googled it I've now discovered that "while widely repeated, this story is likely a myth, with historians placing the origins of the crescent-shaped Kipferl in Austria well before that time."
Damn, here I was worried that croissants were Islamophobic. Whew!
I had one of the most stressful days in a long time—I am now playing video games while listening to this for a second time. Ty for your brave, brave bones work 🫡
I like the part where they didn't talk about Bones
I've stacked a lot of spite based bread, gotta flex on the haters #GRIND
Let your haters become your bakers at the cafe of success
Perhaps not the Boney Island Whitefish we expected, but the Boney Island Whitefish we deserved.
I am boneless today
Breakfast update: once again there is a net increase of gruel in the world as I had gruel this morning inspired by this being bnoes day
Mojtaba Khamenei should lean into his new role as accidental environmentalist champion and start doing solarpunk shit like the Saudis. Build an anti-american Line in Sistan or something, hiring all the Chinese glasses guys.
i think this might be the best episode yet
I agree
“From Bone to Eternity”
I was saying Boo-ones...
Andrew always makes a better breakfast for his kids than himself. Maximum respect.
6:21 left on the clock “We haven’t talked about Bones at all”
AND YOU KNOW WHAT? I learned what Goldschläger means
It's not spite exactly, but M&Ms were invented after the Mars CEO's failson was tooling around in Europe during the Spanish Civil War and saw British volunteers eating smarties
Absolute buffoons, all of you.
'Unpleasant Ron' is my Mahjong Parlor nickname.
Breakfast update: I made kind of an oops all condiments quesadilla with cotija cheese, pickled carrot and red onion, and a dollop of chipotle mayo on a flour tortilla. Black coffee (aeropress), matte black Mütter Museum müg.
Nope. Sorry. Only breakfast talk. You skipped breakfast, you don't get to talk about your dinner instead.
I literally said out loud, "It's not called dinner update, Riley!" Lol
Man I watched the episode in preparation for this
I just found out that there’s an episode of Bones outside the remit of the Boney Island Whitefish (s4e25) where Booth has a dream in which Stewie Griffin shows up
Incredible episode and they should absolutely watch it
In one of the pictures of Bernard the Roughneck, he looks startlingly like Ed Gamble
And now I realise why I appreciate so much drinking vodka soda - feeling stupid but vindicated in my choices (also pastis! Makes sense)
Your best work yet I have to say, stellar bones analysis
I saw this conclusion coming, and I am OK with it.
"Solid attempt"? I'd say more of a gelatinous attempt, like a bowl congealed gruel.
