“Babe! Who beefed! You smell like a sloppy skeleton!” I think broke something in my diaphragm laughing to tears at this

I love hearing Riley introduce one to four podcasts then bullying, “YOU know what it is”

Gruel-based breakfast is very much a universal constant, but in the context of all under heaven it has historically largely not been rice. Rice was a cash crop valued for its relative lack of strong (or worse, strong and bad) taste until the early modern era I think there's a poem by Zhang Dai(?) lamenting how now that the perfidious Manchu have taken over he can't have boy-wives or orgies anymore, has to do physical labour, can't even afford rice and has to eat millet gruel. Personally I think his Sad Boi Rizz was probably only enhanced by him having actual reasons to be sad and him getting absolutely yoked (I think there's a poem about how sad he is at how jacked actually having a job is making him, which sounds like a humble brag)

It also depends on the region you're in. Northern China is much drier and colder and uses much more wheat based products versus the South which uses more rice. But I think gruel is sort of a human constant. Ancient Japan and North America used acorns to turn into flour and then boil into various things, porridge has always been super common--rice, wheat, barley, etc. Humans do love our goo.

Odd that a man so opposed to goo would choose to break his fast with it every day

I noticed this as well. Very odd.

Coconut is a perfect morning song on a perfect morning album! Silver-lining to Nilsson passing is he didn’t have to hear Hanson’s slander I guess

Breakfast update! It's Saturday and I had buttermilk in the fridge so I made waffles with diced apples and walnuts like my dad used to make. All mugs on which my aeropress will fit currently in the dishwasher and so I am drinking coffee out of a glass jar.

The thing is the crime solving on bones makes way more sense if you think of most of the characters as working for the technocracy in the world of darkness, bones doing her bone magic, sweets doing psychology magic, Angela doing her computer magic, booth is nwo, the interns disappear for months because they are being reprogrammed

When I used to watch Bones back in 2011-2012 I think it was actually on Netflix in the US, because Netflix Originals weren’t quite a thing yet. (I was one of those people who bought a first-generation Roku Netflix Box in 2008 and plugged it into my hand-me-down CRT.)
