I regret to inform you that writer identity politics is A Thing. It seems to rise in cycles and I haven’t seen a ton of it personally lately. But it definitely exists.

The AI stuff is so depressing. Even before AI it was an incredibly difficult thing to make a living doing creative writing and now apps like this are actively making it impossible. I know friends who left their copywriting jobs because they were being forced to edit AI outputs. I know plenty of people who write and whose work is getting drowned out by the AI spam. As funny as this all seems, to people who write as a job, a hobby or a passion, this is devastating. Some writers are even hesitating promoting their work because AI grifters are scraping socials. A lot of us are feeling hopeless. If AI continues this will end a lot of careers and dreams.
