*UNLOCKED* Flowers for Algernonce feat. Hesse Deni
We are joined by Hesse Deni (@ZeroSuitCamus) of the Seeking Derangements and Movie Mindset podcasts to discuss A VERY ROYAL SCANDAL, another installment of British TV movies dramatizing the Prince Andrew Newsnight interview…but this time with an inexplicable voice. No, literally, what is going on with the way they’ve depicted Emily Maitlis’ voice? It’s a baffling assembly.

I’m so pissed bc I thought I had seen this but it was Billie Piper’s SCOOP that I saw. So now, out of love for Hesse and solidarity w TF I am subjecting myself to this. You’re welcome!!
MICHAEL. WHY. “What a bit of kit” lmaooooonooooo
Happy holidays all, this is probably one of the best gifts I got this year!
do you think Ruth Wilson did a Marlon Brando while filming Apocalypse Now and decided to start chainsmoking cigarettes to get her voice that low and the directors had to roll with it?
what’s stunning is I’ve been watching her Irish accent work in a murder show thus this is spectacular whiplash
God, having just watched the first two episodes the bizarre distinctly digital lighting is all the more perplexing because there's a huge emphasis on the literal cameras used to film the interview, like a dozen tight detail shots of the BBC crew setting them up and while they're in use. You would imagine if there was a keen awareness of how the interview was shot on a technical level it would translate to the same amount of care in producing the fiction of the same spectacle.
it's really funny that this is the version that Emily Maitlis herself produced, like... this is what she thinks of herself
Incl makeup!!!!!!
I am choosing to picture Ruth Wilson doing a bad Kathleen Turner impression throughout this episode. Also, a grown man saying “mummy” in a posh English accent makes me feel personally violated.
I'd love if you did a mini series (like bones season 5) focusing on the OJ show
It says Emily Maitlis is exec producer on this thing? Along with like 7 other folks?
With the Prince Andrew episodes and The Line Movie episode, it seems that Hesse is TF's official correspondent for movies containing or that are about interviews with Idiot Princes.
can't decide if Milo doing Charles using gen z slang is blursed or just plain cursed
I thought Ruth Wilson was from Gavin & Stacy for a bit and I was very confused by the casting.
Prince Andrew - A Post Electric Play
I watched this last night and I found it so baffling that the take seemed to be "Journalism is being a nonce"?????
Presented by Huw Edwards
This episode just absolutely smashed it. Really hope we get more Emily Maitlis voice in future episodes. Also, great episode title from November.
Yoooooo Bones reference!
Always a pleasure to have Hesse on. Jacques absolutely needs to come on the next time you watch a Prince Andrew Epstein interview movie / prestige miniseries.
total chaos lol
I take comfort in knowing that if I live long enough to develop a degenerative brain disorder that the nonsense I learned on the show will still play in my head as I forget what I had for breakfast.
What was the old episode title?
Originally it was going to be "Call Her Mummy"
Must be wild to be an actor and get the "You booked Epstein" call with your agent
Its the Hesse one
We love Hesse
lmfao at this episode title
I am booing
