Kinds of Keirness
As the Labour-taking-bribes scandal runs on into its second month (out of god knows how many), we look at how it’s actually intimately connected to the private sector bonanza we saw at party conference. We also take a look at Rachel Reeves rewriting UK borrowing rules to take investment into account as something other than a cost (good), and how this is likely to be used to fund further private sector giveaways (bad). Also under discussion: Meta’s drive to put its glasses on everyone (bad if it works) and OpenAI’s gargantuan new funding round (funny).

I could never respect any US politician or political entity that took advice from the Brits
There's no way you all haven't seen this but: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/oct/08/britons-urged-to-dig-out-unwanted-electricals-to-tackle-copper-shortage
Were you in the Nauld Nova? Vietnauld, Cumbernam, Cumbabwe?
I think another reason why Musk won't get called on his Twitter debt is the banks know he'll sell his Tesla stock to make the payment, which will crash the price and probably cause some other financial implosions.
yeah that's what I was thinking, I have no idea how it would actually work in bank accounting but they're probably like shitcoin holders after the rug, either this stock is genuinely worth nothing at liquidation or there's a casino chance it bounces back
I heard an assessment of AI about a year ago that referenced Benjamin's "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" that essentially argued as art becomes more automated it has to become louder to actually say anything and becomes more utilitarian, which ultimately just lead to its use as fascist propaganda. The last year really has been a total validation of that
When people ask me why I listen to a British technology/political podcast though I live in central Massachusetts. It's for the same reason people love watching trashy reality tv. It's nice to know that the U.S. at least has competition in degradation and inhumanity.
That and the Patrick O'Brien novels
"Joe Biden is never gonna know what it's like to depend on a russian oligarch to buy tickets for him" common now didn't he get a Ukraine gas guy to get his son a no-show job?
Please do an episode on the new carbon capture and storage subsidy with an expert :) there's so much in there about trying to give back fossil fuel companies social license, how it's spun as sustainable etc
I’ve always heard Excel Bully and it only started dawning on me now that it might be XL 🫠
If a dog can do pivot tables they deserve the title of Excell Bully
You guys across the pond are lucky to get hentai ads. I shit you not in the united states every other ad is for some dipshit Donald Trump coin or t-shirt or political action committee, or some anti-woke grift

absolutely adore them repeatedly calling diddy „puffy“
Hearing Cumbernauld talked about by non-Scots is strangely upsetting
"Lord Alli is not my sugar daddy. That would be completely inappropriate. A sugar-free or diet daddy would set a far better example for Britain's youth."
This episode feels like an epic convergence of many TF terrible things. It’s like the season recap we never needed but absolutely deserve on this cursed island.
Top Tier titling 🤌
The joke about "Euston station, brought to you by Leon", is actually how trains work in Japan. Japanese rail companies get to rent out the super valuable space around train stations, and it's massively profitable.
why does the tech industry hate schizophrenics so much
Getting in the money blower machine but it's full of pound coins instead of bills
“Turning your house into a bird with a cloaca” most disturbing sentence out of Milo’s mouth in a while
imagine if you will a fascist state as wonder woman, pulchritudinous and powerful, yet innately in need
Thank you for coding each section with how I'm supposed to feel about it. I know this reads as sarcastic but I am being sincere (unless that's sarcastic too)
Keir as folk
He’s here, he’s Keir, we’re getting used to it
