I spent the first 24 years of my life in Southport and now I've been in the US for 20 and I don't think I've ever felt this pained about being on the other side of the Atlantic.
Some Dublin fash bussed up to Belfast for "solidarity" with the lynch mobs up there. When they came back it started a little internecine fued in the Dublin anti-asylum-seeker community. The true believers had forgotten that to your garden variety Dublin racist the only thing worse than a burqa is a union jack.
I never comment on here but as a Norwegian listener I just want to thank you for not forgetting the 22nd July terrorism attack. Even here in Norway it feels like everyone just wants to forget about it and pretend it didn't happen. People still say "never forget" but only a few years after the attack literal nazis were allowed to march in the streets. It seems like what we are not supposed to forget is the fact that a guy killed people, but the fact that he was far right and that there are people who agree with his ideas should not be talked about.

Unless you're white and you meet certain culture markers of approval, you never will be." We gotta call out shows like Bridgerton specifically for denying this exact truth that Nate is calling out here. Bridgerton et al sell the lie that you can Bootstrap yourself up into respectable society of white elites if you just lean in hard enough on pure aristocracy, which in turn gives the media ghouls license to say "look! see! this fictional property that allows the Good(TM) black and brown folk into tea parties PROVES that we're not racist and that nothing we say or do or incite is racist either!"
i now really need an analysis of the impacts, reasons and origins of this sort of diverse casting in historical fiction in the UK and the associated culture wars. i’ve not really thought about it in this way but it does do a lot to defend and reframe aristocracy (or, in police dramas, cops) and rewrite history in ways which are not (just? at all?) beneficial

It’s interesting tonight after the far right were met by huge anti fascist demos across the country how much furious backpedaling has been done by the Daily Mail, Daily Express and Times that welcome these demos full of trade unionists and Trotskyist as the authentic expression of Britain. With the same picture on their front page. How does that sit with platforming Jenrick, Goodwin, Melanie Philips, Douglas Murray and Reform.
Media types used the softest language possible to downplay Nazis running around being violent. Cool.
The fash must and will be forced off the streets but it won’t be by the coppers , It been done before plenty of times but sadly the same bastards come back older but not wiser and now with there horrible offspring in tow , but at a street level we have always outnumbered them . The show is at its best when Milo, Alice, and Nate are all on. Nate is the third shooter on the team, but in this different way where he isn't just another instance of the same thing. And he's got a zippy cadence that makes it feel like the show is flowing.
