Science has done it all: it’s created Woke Algeria to oppress the Italians, it’s created a Labour party that can only concede to the right no matter what the issue, and it’s created the purest expression of Hussein dropping in with a joke that obliterates the entire cast with absolutely no warning. This is both a grim and fun episode given the current state of British politics, and we are both inspired by scenes of solidarity and horrified by the general state of things.

I honestly feel bad for the Italian boxer as well. When this first broke I thought it was another case of sore loser blaming a loss on imaginary transes, because we've had that before and the way mainstream newspapers reported on it certainly wanted to give the impression they were speaking on her behalf. But she neither originated the lie nor even said anything about the matchup being unfair, just like "damn I got hit bad, I can't keep going" with as much coherence as you could imagine anyone having while their brain is being scrambled. Later clarified that she was not going to give a take on the "should Khelif have been allowed to compete" debacle other than "I'm sorry I didn't shake her hand, I'd love to give her a big hug to make up for it if we're able to fight again". It's not by any means comparable to how Khelif has been mistreated, but I think it's still worth appreciating how violating this whole debacle is to the one they're pretending to crusade for. Although I guess part of why I feel that way is a means of displacing how scary it is to be reminded that this bullshit is 100% self-running. It doesn't even take one person involved with a random news event being a piece of shit for mainstream society to decide it's transphobia hour anymore. Not that that's new, but it still fucks me up whenever I'm reminded of it.
