Britainology 85: Celebrity SAS—Who Dares Wins
For this month's first Britainology, we've watched the season of the military-themed and emphatically strange UK reality TV show "Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins," featuring....Matt Hancock. It's exactly what you think it is.

My favourite UK military story is when I was on a hike with the scouts up the Pen-Y-Fan and a bunch of troops were marching down, when the guy with the Javelin (probably a mock one but it looked pretty authentic) fell over and the drill sergeant type bloke said something like "stop showing off Jenkins"
Really standout Andrew Tate impression 10/10
Wow lads, really delivered a late-ep treat pour les francophones ✂️
Garden variety corruption is an invasive species across the planet. Do your part to uproot and slay it.
Milo would make a joke about the equitable lagoon or the tarpeian rock and get thrown in the pool
Fort Boyard is originally a Québécois show and I promise the original is the weirdest version. I feel like if Milo knew it’s origins he would have a field day.
I wonder how Fred Dibnah would have fared...
As a former enlisted soldier assigned to 2/72 Armor, 2ID, Camp Casey, I can 100% confirm what Nate had to say about the bullshit.
Soulwax shout out! I saw them open for Therapy? in Manchester back in 1998 if I recall correctly. I still enjoy playing people "Conversation Intercom" and watching them realize what a banger it is.
oh yeah such a good song! insanely weird band too
outta context but I was watching some Car Youtube drama and it gave me an idea: Trashfuture should sell itself to a Private Equity Media Firm, as a prank. TF should be forced augment gross revenue by 173% yoy and hire MBA Jeff at the position of Head VC of Business Solutions.
Then they can all do a staff drag race contest and the top dog in charge can dominate in his expensive EV.
As a fun tidbit from the celeb SAS before the one discussed on this ep: Katie Price was on it and ended up getting kicked off quite early in the process. I worked on it and was there not long after this happened after a producer came into the room and shouted “Who signed off on giving Katie Price her full fee?!?!” which, for 18 hours of work, was £180,000
It’s little known, but Desert Phase was actually originally Deseret Phase, where recruits had to memorise the entire Book of Mormon
Sub cancelled for Sugababes slander 🙅🏻 (also "Freak Like Me" was originally a bootleg mash-up of the titular Adina Howard song with Gary Numan's "Are Friends Electric?" - Adina didn't give permission for her vocals to be used to the producer got Sugababes v2.0 to re-record them)
I came to mention this, that Freak Like Me cover was an inspired mash up in my opinion.
How do you guys not remember Nasty Nick from Big Brother 1?
That happened in, like, 2000 - can't speak for Nate but Milo would have been a child.
Short guy with accent they couldn't pinpoint is from the North East
Nasty Nick was on the first series of Big Brother. He was a strange cultural phenomenon as way after he was forgotten by the general public he would be used as a cultural reference by people like Andrew O’Neil.
why do you need to learn to climb a rope as a paratrooper? youre supposed to go down not up!!!
Saipan mentioned holy shit
Just browsed phone PSN store app new releases, wondering how relevant the official Fort Boyard game apparently released today was supposed to be, having not thought or seen anything about it in bloody years. Then seconds after losing interest and moving on, you guys brought it up too - Now while the relevance is still unknown, these are two things, two rare things at same time! Clearly not mere coincidence!
SEAL was a pretty close guess for the American instructor, it's Rudy Reyes of Generation Kill fame
"It doesn’t make you gay if you think Rudy is hot, we all think he’s hot"
I am not comfortable with the soggy Hancock
Can we get a Britainology on the series “Ripping Yarns”? I want Milo to tell us how accurate the depiction is to his memory of school.
