Farage Bonking Fanfic

It's the free one!

For this week’s free one, we’ve Riley, Milo, and November discussing the Reform manifesto, which reads like a handful of Volk-centered social democracy policies with a lot of what you can only called overt fascism. Great to know that this will be “sensible politics” in about five years. We also read a paean to Nigel Farage’s f**kability. Of course it’s in the Spectator, but you are simply not prepared for it.

November learned about Mansa Musa from Sean Bean in Civ 6, Riley learned about him from Leonard Nimoy in Civ 4. This is illustrative of something.

By doing accents, Riley has become the thing he sought to destroy

The more the discussion of the Spectator article went on, the more I started thinking "She wants to fuck Harry Dubois"

The bit about the Reform manifesto defining future political conversation was a good point because that's the the purpose of Reform, really (as well as making a few quid for Tice, Farage etc) - not to lay their hands on a significant amount of power, but to mainstream all manner of horrific, stupid shit.

Writing an article about "I want to fuck [exactly the demographic of this publication] but I can't seem to find any of them" is an incredible move

She was on Xfm 20 years ago, before she started on BBC radio. Only '00s kids will remember!

This podcast episode accidentally made me and my friend reinvent the bit of "chaser Keir Starmer"

Super-duper looking forward to HMS SURPRISE, as I feel it's where the series really starts and we begin to see the true depths of the characters-- particularly in Jack as a man both ashore and afloat, and of Stephen, as a man posessed of a remarkable humanity. But, it must be said, a man utterly, completely, drowning in an unrequited love for a woman far beyond him. Also (and do please attend, November, you are most hellish unattentive in these matters): "I am of her caste." Without those 5 words, the novel becomes but a paltry thing.

Riley’s increasing foray into Keir and now Russian accent work is extremely good!

It's so bizarre to cite the economy of Roman Britain in a bit of climate change denialism. One, it was a famously self-sufficient outpost of Roman life with weather the legions enjoyed to no end. And two, in Britain there's this tedious tendency to describe it as the Roman occupation of Britain (as if the Angles are autochthonous), so who are you even appealing to here? This is what happens when you let Britons read Free Republic or whatever.

I *knew* Nigel Farage shouldn’t have taken thalidomide, seeing as he ended up birthing Deform UK… (If he had taken Accutane, though, at least he would have perfect skin now.)

It may have been a throw away line, but the Kochs did just sponsor a music festival as their own personal stage/rave party or maybe real estate tax dodge? It was (lightly I would say) protested against due to Koch's investments in Israel. So the whole argument of "unrelated causes" really falls apart when it's climate destroying generational wealth funding both problems. Also all the same arguments about arts funding were involved but basically coming down to, well there's no other money for it here so might as well grab some of Satan's money to pay the rent. (sorry to defame the dark one with the comparison)
