DEADLOCK Sumn Gonna Happen #63
It is time, once again, to FACE THE PAIN!
On this month's SGH, we're back in the Octagon! UFC 7 is upon us on our on-going series of early UFC watch-a-longs. This is UFC's first event in New York, and for over 20 years, it was their last event in New York, as the state athletic commission was not putting up with any of this! The tournament style is still with us, and the SUPERFIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP is on the line tonight as Ken Shamrock defends against Oleg Taktarov.

Reocurring bit where the boys keep forgetting that Michael Buffer has been here many times before
Wow, Marco Ruas kicks ass. Definitely my favorite so far, something about him before he even fought i was rooting for him
Looking back, this might be my favorite Superfight so far. Even though they were all just laying on each others, I think this one was the funniest.
That was some bullshit, the winner is clearly a time traveler who trained MMA so he could win UFC 7
“Gary Sanchez boosted”…y’all playing the show?!
Marco isnt wearing knee tape hes wearing under the knee tape. Taping up that part that he was kicking the fuck out of that entire main. Marco is the GOAT WE FUCK WITH YOU IN BUFFALO
Fun fact this venue does not exist anymore but it was in the downtown of buffalo now nothing really is there anymore and its just more walkway to other buildings down town by the water I LOVE MY CITY GO BILLS sorry Johnny im really sorry james for your team in general thats fucked up
Damn, and yall lost Every Time I Die? Sucks up there
For context vale tudo was the forerunner to MMA. Again a marriage between Brazilian and Japanese fighting styles. Most famous gym for it would been chutebox produced some the greats
that super fight sucked lmaoo
They've all sucked, so far. Edit: Actually, Severn/Shamrock was good, but they'll undo that at their next face-off.
It's been very enjoyable watching the fighters unlocking new tech as this goes along. Marco must have done a huge XP grind because he unlocked "guillotine block", "heel hook", "toe stomp", and "leg kick" for this tourney.
He hits em wit the Diddy oil. Super clutch style
Can we get direct links to vids on here now? All the Streamable embeds are broken as fuck on mobile now, and not much better on Desktop.
Pot fixing used to be a huge problem period in pre-twitch FGC. There is a great video of Spooky from NLBC catching Chris G and Sanford Kelly (I think it was Sanford) trying to fix SFIV grand finals and shutting the whole shit down on stream while screaming at them (I don't know if you can find this video anymore slurs were thrown)
No, fucking way I said, "Fucking Bryan Danielson here." and then Jawwny goes, "...Bryan Danielson over here."
GARY SANCHEZ ORIOLES MENTIONED
UFC 8 is legendary, looking forward to it
Pouring one out for the Pizza Dude.
So the Ultimate Ultimate '95 is the next UFC show, then UFC 8. And that's when UFC starts getting into legal trouble.
Marco Ruas ruled
ASS, MOORHEAD AND HOO-HAS??? UFC getting sexual...
that last fight is the best UFC fight so far
This was nuts!
leg kick cheese was fucked up
if you guys thought the Shamrock fight this show is crazy, just wait till UFC 8
Yo do you guys still do shirt drops because there's nowhere online that has that Ruas Vale Tudo shirt
Marco Ruas trained Babalu, Pedro Rizzo and Jose Aldo. this dude said "you grapple me I punch and kick you, you punch and kick me i grapple you. there's no way out" what a beast
guy who gets mad when jiu-jitsu shows up in the event designed specifically to promote jiu-jitsu
Paul Varelans just looks like ROH singlet Kevin Steen and its fucking me up
man Marco Ruas kicks ass and legs mostly legs tho
SGH #64: Pootytang. Let's make it happen boys
It's genuinely a miracle that Ken Shamrock didnt suffer severe brain damage from all those shots to the back of the head. You dont actually need that much power to sever a brain stem with those punches.
Cant wait for you guys to get to the point where the Can Opener submission was the cheese. Looked so dumb and nobody knew how to get out of it for a while
Looking at the Marco Ruas Wikipedia and seeing a subsection titled “Feud with Rickson Gracie” THATS WHY HE’S THE GOAT! KING OF THE MF STREETS!!
Where's my man Jim Brown?!
MARCO RUAS IS THE GOATTTTT
Apparently Marco Ruas got put into a tournament at the next show, Ultimate Ultimate, instead of directly receiving a title shot
bro the salutes were crazy as hell
33 minutes of groundwork followed by 13 minutes of the most insane octagon strategy is a fucking all timer. Had a blast with this one, cant wait for the next
im so scared of UFC 7.5
It's funny when they're talking about standing them up for the first time, when one of the fights got stood up in the last tournament too. Love this series though, I get forgetting about it when you have to watch so much stuff!
THERE ARE NO RULES *except no kicks with shoes on*
My favorite highlights -Jim Kelly cameo -Varelans dominating nazi Kyle O’Reilly -The King of the Streets overcoming gracie devil magic -The return of Grandpa Cam™️ -McCarthy inventing new rules on the fly -Ruas vs Varelans
Paul Varelans looks a bit like Tom from Father Ted
no toby💔😔
That pardoel guy definitely knew he was about to get his head smashed in and said "nah fuck this"
In an era where you can do WHATEVER YOU WANT Ken shamrock chooses to just lay on top of opponents for 30 minutes lol, just punch!!! Lmao
No entrances and Harold Howard being fucking washed (it’s because he learned Jiu Jitsu and it took over his body) makes me sad
He lost the power when he lost the facial hair
After watching this and thinking it over I got two thoughts 1) Why do people keep throwing hitler salutes in early UFC shows? That shit sucks 2) That Ken Shamrock v Oleg Taktarov match was horrible
I looked into the old salute. Apparently it's a savat salute but super dicey. Tbf these days wouldn't be surprised if we saw one in modern UFC the way it's run
This is who Bruce Buffer got the job with UFC. Friends made their UFC episode and wanted to get Micheal Buffer like they were using at this time. But he was booked so they just got his half brother Bruce instead. The episode was a hit and the UFC liked Bruce's work so hired him.
Little triva for you guys. The big commentator, Jeff Blatnick, is beast monster who won the gold medal at SUPER heavyweight in the Olympics in the 70s. If bro was 20 years younger he probably would have been in the cage absolutely mauling people 🤣
Oh shit you guys need to watched Armored MMA, it’s straight up knight fights in an mma cage
A lad it's be the perfect watch this
Pardoel vs Ruas kicked ass after that six minute choke ended lmao
King in the streets, freak in the sheets 🦵🏻💥😩
Playin Deltarune while watchin UFC with the boys, god is great
So like, none of the Sambo guys coming up with that salute had ANY idea what it looked like, huh.
Can’t believe Toby got banned in Newark so he can’t be here for this one.
I hate seeing John McCarthy's stupid face
Crazy to think this happened 4 days after Nitro debuted
Marco Ruas' performance in the final might be the best individual performance so far, no one else other than maybe Shamrock or Royce has gone in with a gameplan for one guy that strong
Pretty sure he got Fight of the Night for it, and yeah, shit was sick
I think the trajectory of MMA changed permanently when the King of the Streets secured that leglock
I love that you could see him figure out what a heel hook is in real time
re: ken shamrock vs vader, shamrock’s wwf in-ring debut was a no holds barred match against vader on ppv (it was okay) and they also had a cage match on an FMW tour in 1997
Was not expecting to see Best of the Worst alum, Don The Dragon Wilson.
I miss the pizza mang
Kyle Fletcher lookin ahh
the king of the streets would beat the shit out of the rock ken shamrock.
Y'all should do Minoru Suzuki vs Shamrock in Pancrase. It's on YouTube.
LONG LIVE THE KING
There arnt enough Fisherman gimmicks in wrestling now a days. Sorry was there a fight going on
I can’t believe the King of the Streets won the whole thing with his patented Nantucket Driver
A Tough choice of match would be ....that superfight, or a HHH 60 min iron man match
i wish james and jawny were here but having two tonys is gonna make for a fun watch
I wish Tony was here for this one but still excited to watch this gang! :D
Leg kick ko is my favorite shit of all time for some reason I can’t describe it😭HAD ME GOIN CRAZY IN THE CRIB
Bas Rutten won his last fight by leg kick ko 🤣 would recommend looking up the highlights
In case anyone is wondering, Marco Ruas is 34 years old here
He could still be 34 today
Anyone know how to air cast this? I don’t see any option
STAND. IN. YOUR. CORNEEEEEEEERS!
Marco Ruas might be the goat
skwoah
We're bringing back the strike system and giving one to Ken Shamrock
Motherfucker is at two cuz that Gracie fight was already a strike
"Ju Jitsu World Champion" vs. "Full Time College Student" in the first round was literally Hydrogen Bomb vs. Coughing Baby.
Dude can these early UFC guys stop throwing up the sieg heil? Mark Hall was out here spamming them crazy style
I think it's just a martial arts salute and an unfortunate coincidence. Same with Gordeau at UFC 1.
WHERE IS TOBY
I mentioned in the comments of UFC 6 this is where shit starts to hit the fan. So I want to do something different here and shoutout one of the broadcasters Jeff Blatnick who worked every show from UFC 4 to 32. And in his role of UFC Commissioner something he has from UFC 17 onwards he plays a vital role in the sport getting regulated plus he is widely recognised in coining the term Mixed Martial Arts as opposed to No Holds Barred Shoot fighting which also helped the image change. As to Quote Big Dave Meltzer: "No Holds Barred, (Blatnick) said, gave people a bad connotation of what it was, and felt it was a negative. Mixed Martial Arts, the idea of combining techniques from all the various martial arts forms with that of wrestling, was really what the sport was, he would say"
SHOT. CLOCK. CHEESE. SPLAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH.
the perfect thing to help with recovering from covid
No Toby 😔
UFC burying at least $250,000 on Michael Buffer is incredible. I haven't seen any of the fights yet, but I hope there -is- Brazilian Jiujitsu, but pronounced like Sonnen.
Oh my Dippers of the hog unite!!!
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO
I can't wait for the boys to see UFC 8 for the Gary Goodridge fight
“Mike had his whole way with that sandwich”
A list of rules that is one page for a fight is kinda nuts when you think about it
We are one show away from the birth of two absolute legends. That's all I will say. EDIT: Wait, the Olympics of the Martial Arts world? But there are several martial arts in the Olympics! SECOND EDIT: I forgot about the Ultimate Ultimate! Shit yeah!
I can't wait for UFC 8, the most fucked up ko ever.
There was a guy in the UFC like two years ago that lied about his whole career and they believed him. they still don’t even verify if he’s lying or not
No Tony is crazy.
Y E S
thank fucking god royce gracie isnt in this
of course his scandinavian disciple is here to ruin my day though, we're never truly free
OH MY
I'm so excited I want to punch someone right now.......owwwww mom is alot tougher than I thought
OH. HELL. YEAH. (I've been legit psyched for this.)
Ive spent all of yesterday and today catching up on the other UFC's LETS GO
