Wataponno Autumn 2026 roadmap

Hello everyone!

We're here today with our autumn roadmap, as well with a debreifing on the summer roadmap.

Let's start by going over the summer roadmap. All in all, everything went exactly as planned.

The summer sale and nextfest were pretty easy to do, and the release of Magfical Hellhound Lust went about as planned. The complete MHL post-mortem will come after the full release. But for now, MHL is clearing all its objectives and teaching us exactly what we wanted to verify with this "smaller" game.

Now let's pick it up with the Atlantis update and the first demos of MMA2.

Atlantis update was released last week as MMA version 6.0 (currently at 6.0.2 with the bug fix). This update adds new monstergirls, new scenes, and is a small bridge between MMA and MMA2, where Europa will be the player character. As per our previous promises to you, buying the game allows us to make more game, so that's exactly what we're doing.

And now for the future:

Step 1: MMA2 demo, october

Magical Monstergirls Academy 2 IS happening. That's a fact. And some things will change. We learned a lot of stuff in the past 8 years, and we're putting them to work now!

First up, the first demos, in October: These will be gameplay demos, maaayyybe some story, but I wouldn't count on that too much. If we put anything in there, it might be retconned. The goal of the first demo will be to show you the new game mechanics, gather up your inputs and suggestions, and go forward with these.

Step 2: Wataponno launcher, nov-dec 2026

Then, the BIG change: The Wataponno launcher! One of the things that's really bothering me at the moment, taking lots of my time and is infuriating for you is game versioning. Just this week, we published Atlantis for MMA (6.0), fixed a story crash (6.0.1), then fixed a controler bug (6.0.2). This is bad for everyone. With an official launcher, the game will auto-update to the latest version. This launcher will come on PC at first, and will be deployed in some capacity to Android sooner than later.

This launcher will also allow us to distribute rewards more easily with patreon. Launch the game, log-in with your patreon account, get content directly in game. No more fetching itch links or stuff like that. Everything at the same place.

Later on, there will be ways to get the rewards withtout a patreon account, but as usual, we are using patreon to distribute and finance the game while in early-access/beta. This approach will make us able to give rewards more easily, and thus give more rewards to patreon supporters too!

Step 3: MHL full launch, dec 2026

Magical Hellhound Lust early-access will end. With new bosses, new scenes, new voice acting. I won't spoil too much on that and let you enjoy the full release. The complete MHL post-mortem will come a month or so after the full release.

Step 4: MMA2, the beginning

Having one controlled version for everyone means we will be able to tell stories more efficiently, as actual updates. You can see that as your weekly/bi-weekly dungeon and dragons game. The story will progress a step at a time, mostly with community backed objectives in game. If you play Helldivers 2, you can have a general sense of what we will be doing.

This is the big change for MMA2. Rather than having a one and done game, it will be a progressing game. This doesn't change anything compared to our previous games, that's always how we developed them. With MWA, or with MMA (lol, we are STILL updating MMA bc you guys want to). But with MMA2, there is no endpoint in sight. We'll keep going until we run out of gas (money).

The reason is quite simple, really: predictability. I'm not gonna lie, the video game industry is FUUUUCKED right now. For various reasons. Patreon gives us stability, which is invaluable right now. By having one game that automatically updates itself for everyone, and patreon integration/rewards baked directly into it, we will use that predictability to create the best and biggest game we have ever done.

With you, for you, as always.

That's it for now, but I'll be back soon with even more details on MMA2 and the road to Wataponno's 10th anniversary, as this week is Wataponno's 8th birthday and yearly open letter.

See you soon!

Yeah, I agree, the video game industry is fuuuuuuuuuuuucked. As is the movie industry. In fact, the entertainment industry as a whole is kinda fucked, right?
