The Fake DNA Test Enraging the Bigfoot Hunting Community (Premium E354)
Charles Stuart, aka “Snake the Bigfoot Hunter” claims he found a dead Bigfoot body in the Adirondacks, and he has a supposed DNA report from a Cornell University lab to prove it. Cornell, however, says it never performed the test. Now there’s a threatened $10 million lawsuit and a furious Bigfoot hunter establishment over an alleged corpse named Dack that was on display at the New York State Fair.
We investigate the alleged evidence, which involves reading surprisingly vulgar passages from Snake’s Bigfoot Bible. Along the way, we check the reaction of rival Bigfoot research organizations and get too many details about a sexual escapade involving SpaghettiOs that supposedly unlocked new mysteries about the place of humans in the tree of life. But after we learn that “Snake’s” name isn’t really “Charles Stuart,” we’re left wondering whether exposing an elaborate hoax just earns us a supporting role in a carefully-curated performance.

As someone who used to work in the contemporary art world, I'd say that whether this can be considered really comes down to how he's making money off of it (hear me out). A normal performance artist DOCUMENTS their performance, and it's usually the document that ends up becoming the artwork that is sold or collected. If this guy is just grifting off his performance, than imo, it's not art. It's just a new way to make money.
Best laugh I've had in a long time. Spaghettios finally killed me.
Episode idea, along the lines of getting stuck in your bit, but more serious. Ukraine and Zelensky. History of Ukraine, since kicking Putin’s puppet out, Zelensky’s comedy. How he wound up president during this virtual war. And what’s going on with the war. Maybe a 2 parter. I think the war in Ukraine is pivotal as the US declines (accelerated by Trump) and the new world order takes shape. Anne Applebaum? Not sure who you’d have on.
I'll never forget Jake in a panic trying to figure out "slamming a bowel of ramen while jerking off"
We need to stop the genital mutilation of Bigfoots (bigfeets?)
Fantastic episode, boys. Thank you. Very funny.
In a world filled with so many harmful conspiracy theories this feels oddly harmless. If anything it underlines the problem, that if you come up with a story and you have the skills to fabricate evidence you can fool a part of the population. Also hilarious that it was on display at the New York State Fair, wonder if it’ll get over to the Ren Faire at Tuxedo?
I'm just imaginging the sweet little child who was given this book because they love cyrptids...
The thing about the DNA testing is so funny because it isn't very expensive or rare these days. You don't need to have Spagetti-O-rifice sex to get something sequenced and analysed.
Commenting to give a tip on a topic! There’s this phenomenon of fraudulent “Epstein survivors” describing q-anon-like occult experiences over decades, many having “only recently escaped” which fall apart with any searched of the files/just logically make no sense. They are extremely sensational and not backed up by anything about Facebook posts and bizarre instagram accounts that might use ai. Yet they have hundreds of thousands of views. They also seem to systematically delete comments questioning them, claiming they are cabal members. Heather Wellington (instgram, YouTube, something called 50501: Minnesota on Facebook) is the most recent I’ve come across. Fascinating and tragic.
Trump and his cronies are victims of the Epstein scandal.
Peter McIndoe (the kid who started the Birds aren’t real conspiracy) has some talks about the limits of satire and why he broke character. It would be interesting if you guys interviewed him as a follow up for this episode, if only for Jake to riff off of Peter’s ideas
Annie please do an ep on Danny Tommo. The melt just sunk his boat and is now fundraising for a new one.
I think you guys are trying too hard to dissect the performance art aspect. It's about creating a reaction, including this episode. I respect his commitment to this bigfoot hunter bit. The stories in the book are still funny even if they're fabricated, which tells me that this guy is actually good at comedic writing. And it's hilarious to elicit a response from "actual" bigfoot hunters trying to claim this guy is actively harming their community, and for none of them to see the irony in that. This guy is awesome, and I think it's even a bit much to call him a "huckster", for what, selling tickets at the state fair to see something that clearly isn't bigfoot? Those poor people got scammed! How could they have known any better!? And selling a book that sounds fucking hilarious? I totally respect this guy. It would be problematic if he was "pretending" to be a proponent of some political/social conspiracy theory that could actively disinform people on things that matter, but it's just bigfoot; it's totally harmless. Great episode regardless.
Holy moly go outside
it's just rabbits.
Jake from Snake Farm.
This guy is awesome. I respect this commitment to the bit.
Aayyy, twenty years ago I was often the woman on the other end of the Bigfoot Bible guy’s bar shenanigans lol (consensually, as much as alcohol allows for it..I actually really was kind of trying to get drunk and laid lol)
(Not literally btw, as far as I’m aware I have not fucked this man lol)
You gotta get this guy on the show.
Classic
“Lost in the bit” -Thy name is Corey Feldman. Either that or he is an Andy Kauffman-esq genius. Prob the former.
Jake! What is the ashawakatuka?? We need to know, for science!
barely related but have you guys looked into Nick Land and the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit?
Hell yeah.
I thought Travis and Jake were great in this one!
LMAO! Did a spit take at the mention of finger banging! 🤣
Fort Drum didn't have Basic or Advanced Individual Training back then- no drill sergeants out in the wood with "cadets".
Mel is the real hero of this ep.
Just experienced a spaghettio spit take.
Ah fuck this guys performance art nonsense I resent this episode for doing this to me lol
Vintage QAA this one! I'm surprised you didn't mention Leo Taxil again tho
Jake calling Julian a yehsayer when it’s obvious to everyone that Jake is, in fact, the yehsayer of the gang.
Mike Lindell / Victor Marx vibes. Also Busch Ice… that’s vile and desperate despite having almost zero money we used that to punish people during drinking games in undergrad
Wait not even right we had Natty Ice never heard of Busch ice in my life
"the hog?"
What a relief to all of the doom related scrolling dominating my feed and life right now. The NYS Fair in the 70s used to always have the world’s largest cow (1 leg = 48 burgers!) and the world’s largest alligator (not in the same exhibit).
Snake sounds exactly like Colorado GOP Gubernatorial candidate Victor Marx. So many freaks out there, living their own reality.
Neanderthals aren't even our ancestors just our closest extinct relatives
There's a 99% chance he's wildly misrepresenting that native folklore too https://youtu.be/7zJhJsdoTYQ
I think ramen might be slang for drugs Also shocked he didn't copy bigfoots cock in silicone The Neanderthal dna proves the lady did get bredfoot
Your tearing this bigfoot community apart!
Andy Kaufman's wrestling trickery. And performance
If there aren’t buckets of sweet Sasquatch cum in this episode we will riot.
The twist, “Snake” is the real cryptid.
Alright you guys sold me on this book
Samesies
Bigfoot is why they’re rescinding the roadless rule, he’s hiding in our pristine wilderness
You guys should check out James R. Dunne and his Return to Eden website. Could make great episode material.
i feel lile theres two ways to engage with this kind of "performance art". one is to offer serious constructive criticism from a technical standpoint. like "if you want to really commit to the bit, dont have your fabricated DNA test be obviously LLM generated" the other way is to "yes, and" him. become one of the MIB trying to silence him, or a rival cryptid hunter trying to one-up him or whatever more absurd thing you can think of.
I think the AI generated text is part of the bit. He's "playing" a guy who's doing a bad job at fabricating evidence of bigfoot DNA.
The name Charles Stuart has an extra nasty connotation to Bostonians considering he was the guy who famously killed his wife and unborn kid and blamed a fictitious black man for it.
Interesting. My first thought was that it’s the name of “Bonnie Prince Charlie” of the last Jacobite rebellion. Might be something to using the name of a famous “pretender”.
The easiest way to tell the Adirondak bigfoot from the Catskill bigfoot is to check for a foreskin.
"The bigfoot community isn't doing well." The world's least concerned "oh no."
A Bigfoot episode with no Brad?!
A collection of dead animals and human feces call it a bigfoot.
how could the Bigfoot folks get even more frustrated? let's find out
Oh hell yes. Adding this to the list of episodes to send to my anthropology professor. Lol
Oh yes !!!
Bigfoot ?! F. Yeah !! Let's go !!! 🙌
