Growing up in Australia, most of my friends in high school were Chinese born or first gen, and I've met so many Chinese students at university, becoming permanent residents and citizens. Genuinely incredible people who give and contribute to my community, and make me proud to live here with them. And this crazy racist rhetoric makes me so angry and sick to my stomach. We have similar rhetoric over here, and it blows my mind at how pathetic my white-ass family is believing it. As somebody that studied international relations and firmly believes it to be part of the humanities...This whole concept of Political Science as a "science" is infuriating. The amount of unfalsifible "theories" like this one that a treated as rigorous scholarship are embarassing. The really frustrating part of this dumb theory is it can cut the other way. Meanwhile I can imagine the Chinese government bemoaning all these "traitors" giving birth in the US to give their kids an out and their lack of commitment to the great national rejuvenation . It makes no sense that with the cratered Chinese birthrate post one-child policy the government would seek to divert 1.5 million births to the US, if such a thing even existed. They have barely the imagination to even consider things from the strategic perspective of the Chinese State which is the whole fucking point of the exercise! Great episode though guys keep them coming. I'm truly sorry for the bullshit my discipline puts out there sometimes.

The fear mongering around children being born in america feels, weirdly, like the Quiverfull movement.
