Citizen Vigilante Movie Night (E381)
POV: You’re the world’s richest man, clicking the POST button on the platform you own. You’ve just shared an inconceivably terrible and violently bigoted film to your 240 million followers, catapulting what would’ve been a forgotten flop to the top of the streaming charts. The film is “Citizen Vigilante”, featuring Armie Hammer’s “comeback” role where he executes migrants. It’s directed by the prolifically terrible Uwe Boll, who once mercilessly pummeled his harshest critics in a boxing ring. For our latest movie night, Brad forced co-hosts Live, Annie, and Jake to hate-watch this travesty, enduring the pain so you don’t have to. Although, Jake genuinely enjoyed covering Boll’s endless video game adaptations, none of which he’s actually seen.

Please do a movie n Ight about bless this child. It is straight up QANON : adrenachrome harvesting, eating the children, Satanic panic. I’m reading the book. Looking forward to seeing the movie
I guess calling it "Inside Elons Mind" is too on the nose
Independently discovering film continuity after fully grasping otherization is wild...
I know no one wants to side with the abusive father, but Uwe Boll's dad was objectively correct.
I love Jake as Elon Musk more than I like the actual person. 🤣
This movie is shit, and I thank you guys for watching and posting about this so I don't have to watch it.
This episode left me with chills down my spine. Seriously, it's so chillingly psychopathic, and so many people LOVE it. What does that say about the right? They're not just ridiculous and pathetic, they're fucking dangerous. The implications of this film are equally chilling. It couldn't be better tailored to promote hate crimes on a mass scale. If the purge (or an attempted one) ever happens in the US, it will be sparked by something exactly like this. People are going to die because of this piece of trash.
I’m gonna be honest..the sounds of the beating of the teenagers really made me feel a little sick. And I’m usually pretty stoic about fake violence. I’m a huge Game of Thrones universe fan. But the sounds of that with the explanation of the movie just..oof. Hated that
Every violent clip they played made me sick. It's a sick movie, and it truly takes a psychopath to enjoy it. Which shows how many of them exist in our midst 😬
Jake’s Elon impression is getting really good
Please Julian… keep cackling, it sounds so good
I am amazed that Jim Caviezel didn’t try to bully his way into the leading role for this.
Jake saying Meatloaf as Meat Loaf killed me.
Found it difficult to really enjoy this episode, this is straight up Nazi propaganda and actual people are losing their lives because of this slop such as this
Right, I also felt the levity wasn't matching the reality of what this is and means for actual human lives.
The only thing I know about this movie is the handful of headlines I’ve seen about “Armie Hammer feels bad his movie is hateful”. With no other context besides the description of the episode, I can’t wait to embark on this adventure.
🎼 everything I do 🎵 I do it for you 🎶
This is like “the accountant” if he got pilled on 4chan instead of trained by assassins or whatever
Congrats Annie ! Here's to more National Babies ! 🙌. Hope it goes well ! Gonna miss you for now and looking forward to your return. 🩷
Great episode by the way. What a truly terrible movie ! Thank you all for your service ! 💜
I think the polar bear MIGHT be a reference to the Werner Herzog movie "Encounters at the End of the World". I think some right wingers are adopting the polar bear wandering off to die trying to reach the mountains as a metaphor for their movement for some reason.
it was a penguin
Just wanted to point out that the newscaster at the end fucked up and said "what possesses the greater threat" when its clearly supposed to be "what POSES the greater threat." Either she misspoke or the screenwriter was so incompetent that they fucked it up and they just left it in.
Oh the Hastings thing brought back some memories of Vancouver. It sits between Gasttown Chinatown & the financial towers & the way it is ignored but for the absolute bastards doing reactionary poverty tourism Makes me shake with anger. The closing of the loophole & his restaurant seem to have been pushing him from a rather gleeful violence-fetishistic non misanthrope (versus say, Mike Bay's cinematically proficient misanthropy) into ultra violent misanthropy
Like the more I learn of Uwe the more I... he is like some being emergent of a yogsothotian mind
An absolutely repugnant movie. I couldn't even sit through the crew mocking it for 90 minutes. Utterly irredeemable waste of time energy and resources. Sorry ya'll, had to sit this one out.
Hammer trying to pull the "I had no idea what this movie was going to be like" is one of the funniest things I've heard all year. There's not a chance in hell anyone with enough functional brain cells to do the acting could fail to comprehend what the movie was about, just going off the lines you played in this episode. I also don't think Hammer is an outright ideological nazi, though. If he was, he wouldn't be ashamed of this, right? Rather, he cynically didn't care about participating in a movie so explicitly white supremacist that it might as well have involved him saying the 14 words, because it was a paycheck and he *is* dumb/arrogant enough that he didn't expect anyone to hear about it. But then Elon happened, and now the open nazis are frothing at the mouth about how much this movie vibes with their bloodlust, and that fact means the existence of this movie and his association to it has made the news normal people (or at least people more normal than those nazis) pay attention to. So now he's realizing that any chance he might have told himself he had at relaunching his acting career in the future for anything other than fashslop is dead, sealed in a block of reinforced concrete and dumped to the bottom of the Mariana trench. Therefore he's willing to debase himself to the point of pretending to be the dumbest person on earth in an attempt at pulling out the twelve bullets he put in his own foot. Or as you put it in the episode, he's accident stumbled into a right wing grift career. Because he's probably got a good shot at being welcomed by that crowd to pick up another paycheck after this, but they'll be the only people who ever welcome him to that opportunity again. Absolutely magical. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Annie, I think your library was haunted by the ghost of Mrs. Simpson. Also, any mention of Armie Hammer gives me the willies. I was working at a famous Chicago theater just before the pandemic/pre-cannibal texts. Armie was going to be in a play we were sending to Broadway, so I've been in the same room with him. The news of the scandal was pretty creepy. The play got shut down before it opened thanks to the pandemic.
Absolutely revolting to hear the ARMIE HAMMER character talking to a sexual assault victim about trying to get her justice 🤮
Also lecturing the kids on the bus about the repercussions of their actions. I beg your pardon??
The 'German Themed Amusement Park' in my mind.
Okay but the reason everyone says "reading people is really important in my job" is that it's true. In every job involving working with wood, correctly assessing the qualities of wood is very helpful, but almost every job involves interacting with people even if its just coworkers and vendors so yeah, being able to read people is helpful.
All the dialogue sounds AI generated. I hate it
I think Armie's character is named Sanders after Bernie Sanders, especially with the weird call outs of Trump, Biden and Clinton in the movie, and Uwe's previous support of Bernie.
Mr Hammer if you're really into getting nibbled on
Thank you for this episode. Gave me so much peace!! 🫶🙏
Lububu episode was last year this time and second best.
I have two things i will say in defense of In The Name of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale: 1) Matthew Lillard absolutely consumed every piece of the set with gusto every scene he was in, just chewing and digesting and going for his absolute life because he knew he was in a complete piece of shit. 2) Ray Liotta also clearly knew he was in a turd and plays an evil wizard with almost casual disdain for everything (and not just inside the movie)[ also, despite a medieval fantasy style setting, he wears a costume that is quite clearly what he just showed up to work in that day and it is the coolest shit in the world.
One of my favourite episodes since the Jim Caviezel ones. Travis and Julian missed a fun party but....I get why.....
NATIONAL BABY! Congratulations to our favorite UK correspondent 🩷
That dialogue was unhinged, worse than Decker
Armi Hammer is trying to do the Javier Bardem assassin guy in No country for Old Men. Who was also supposed to be autistic as a character, fun fact, gods honest truth.
He’s only half antifa, that’s why he can walk in the sunlight.
Armie Hammer? What’s next… Navy Screwdriver?
Gave this one my best shot, but after an hour the second hand embarrassment for the movie became too much. I guess the best outcome of this whole situation is that a bunch of online chuds got tricked into watching a dogshit Uwe Boll fetish film
liv agar
also molly did an episode about this film on weird little guys podcasts and I've been hoping others would cover it too so I don't have to watch it
I’ve heard of this movie, my mom (who turned maga), told me about this, and when she said it was on twitter, Elon like it, and it was about immigrants SAing girls, I just smiled and nodded, not want to confront that, and was surprised Armie Hammer was in it (but now people are saying he finds it hateful and disgusting but the director denies it)
I know all about Uwe from Ryan Davis' "This Ain't No Game" rip to a legend
When I saw the early rumblings of this movie, I was like ‘oh boy I can’t wait for 3-5 different podcasts I follow to cover this.’ Number 3 so far. I want to be clear that this is a good thing, and look forward to the same treatment for Run, Hide, Fight: INFIDELS.
Weird Little Guys and QAA, what's the 3rd?
As a man with 2 exhibition boxing matches, id love to box Uwe's nazi ass
CONGRATSSS ANNIE!!!! 💕🥰
The black mould bit is classic landlord shit lol ‘Actually you’re the person responsible for the damp and black mould in your baby’s bedroom, not me!’ Imagine putting that into the mouth of your vigilante antihero lmfao
Oh God Awful Movies covered this this week too! First time hearing about it (thankfully)
I know Bukowski was a piece of shit, but when scumbag fascists attempt to engage in popular culture I think of this line from his poem The Genius Of The Crowd: Not being able to create art They will not understand art They will consider their failure as creators Only as a failure of the world
Omg that's IT exactly!! It's what I came here to say: how this shows just how many people turn to the right because they're shit at something and refuse to acknowledge that fact, and their narcissism turns into fascist bitterness at the world.
Thank you for your service
Who wrote the bus scene, Kathy Hochul?
Jake sounds increasingly distressed that he doesn't have anything to plug ar the end of each episode.
I'm totally fine with him being the main anchor host for the podcast 💜
Jake slowly turning his Boll impression into a Long Island asshole is good shit
Must do disclosure day next week
I can already hear Brad ranting about how the film is a demonstration of the intellectual bankruptcy of the disclosure movement.
Movie night! Movie night! Movie night!
Really fun episode. This lineup is great. And congrats to Annie.
It’s spelled Armie
I lived in Vancouver in the mid 90’s and I remember Hastings and Main being a wild place. The overwhelming feeling I had was of pure sadness for the people caught up in the racist systems in Canada that perpetuates poverty, sex work and drugs for our indigenous populations. Sorry for the debbie downer vibes, otherwise great episode! I really enjoyed this grouping of hosts.
The other reason this film did "well" is because the producers poured insane money into pumping shorts of it into people's social media feeds. My Instagram was flooded with clips from this film, even though my algorithm is carefully curated to only have woke queer content. They clearly dumped millions into Zuck's pockets to push it to literally everybody
I think it's hilarious you say Postal would make people go columbine
Boll trying to call it The Dark Knight is extra wild because Armie Hammer was cast as Batman in the cancelled Justice League: Mortal (which was intended to be directed by Mad Max's George Miller)
The only good thing Uwe Boll ever did was punch Lowtax in the face
This being the endgame for Uwe Boll is so disappointing and anticlimactic. His movies were, no joke, extremely therapeutic for psychosis. Even crazy cant mantain racing thoughts through that. Farcry and In the Name of the King was better than lithium for making your mind just go totally blank. On two side tangents, I will say that Uwe is a kind of twisted genius in his own right. His movies are like bizzaro sean penn. Even his oddly gratuitous sex scenes remind me of extremely out of context 23 grams or fast time at ridgemont high. And liv, a good metaphor for why there is no real chid film industry is when, on Bob's Burgers, Jimmy tries to sell burgers. His reaction to trying his own burger kinda sums up movies like this.
Hoping to get a job in the library 'cos I like reading people ! 😁 Crazy film review from a " crazy ensemble" 👉 Keep up the good work 🥰
great ep, like one of the ogs
Postal is actually a lot more tongue in cheek than what you are giving it credit for Jake. You dont have to shoot people but it is an option to do so. Set in the fictional Arizona town of Paradise, Postal 2 follows the life of "The Postal Dude", who must carry out mundane tasks throughout an in-game week, with the player deciding how violently or passively he will react to various situations. The player navigates the game's map to carry out his errands, with player choice having an effect on the setting.
I came here to make a similar comment. Postal 1 was technically a satire but in execution that didn't really come through, only the violence, so they made Postal 2 where it was a lot more blatant, with the protagonist constantly spouting one liners Duke Nukem 3D style, and all the levels being based around some kind of, usually political, "joke". The movie is primarily based around the humor of Postal 2. Postal 2 was still bad, imo. It's a bunch of tryhard esgelord reactionary humor that even as a teenager I didn't think was very funny or "good", and it's not like the game itself was any good either. Most of my exposure to the game was watching my roommate play through it over a decade after it came out. He was also the kind of guy who sincerely watched all the YouTubers Annie Kelly has to research. Early manosphere trash around 2014ish. So that gives a good idea who the Postal games appeal to.
I love how Boll's idea of 'good' directors is Michael Bay and Eli Roth
Fun fact about Uwe Boll: he only fought against critics he knew he could win from. Once he learned that Seanbaby was a trained muay Thai and Brazillian jiu-jitsu fighter, he suddenly couldn't find the time for a boxing match.
Typical narcissist move
Our National Baby ! 🥰‼️
These audio clips are WILD. He really sounds like shit now? Did his brief cancellation give him vocal nodules?
it’s probably bad acting 🤔
You guys should do the recent 'Animal Farm' next. I can hear Julian's righteous indignation already, and I'm right there with you man!
Two Canadians, two Jewish lads, and Two! Foreign! Ladieeees!
