Month End Post: August 2026 Wrap-Up

Residents of GB-land! Fall is right around the corner. Let’s say goodbye to August (and summer, I weep!) in style 👋

I’m here with the scoop on our team’s achievements this month. Things have been a bit different as GB recovers from her surgery, but each team member remains hard at work.

Monthly Content Summary

We hit 25K followers on Tumblr this month! We adore our Tumblr community and were so happy to pass this milestone. Thank you to our supporters over in blog land. We couldn’t do it without you. (If you’re new to Tumblr and would like to check us out, you can find our page here!)

GB’s surgery took place this month, and she is well into recovery now. She is still programming behind the scenes (icon) and thanks everyone for their patience while she is out. 🥰

Finally, today is XOXO Droplet’s ninth birthday! We met Bae, Everett, Jeremy, Nate, Pran, and Shiloh on August 31st, 2017 and our lives were forever changed. Thank you to all of our XOXO fans for sticking with us for so long. We appreciate you greatly.

Development Progress

The beta was released super early this month! It greeted our Backers and Patrons on August 5th. This new version included:

• Flu Season Parts 1 & 2

• Added backgrounds that were missing in prior build

• Fixes to typos/errors from the prior build

Alright, let’s dive into game progress. This info is straight from Shawna, our fabulous lead programmer. 

In August, one new full script was prepped and formatted. Wait, what’s a script??

🚨DEV LINGO DICTIONARY TIME 🚨

In this case, a “script” means a document that contains approximately 18-22K words. It gets turned into narration, dialogue, choice menus, and more. Often, one script is about half of a Moment, but for some longer Moments, there may contain more than two. One of the in-progress scripts right now is number 3 of 4 for the Homecoming Moment.

💫 RESUME UPDATE 💫

That new full script is now being coded into the engine — another has been sent through the parser and is being formatted for the engine as well. A third script (!!!) was completed as well, and Shawna will be going over it themselves this week, where it will then be tested. They’ll also be working on usual bug fixes and will begin coding in some small gameplay sections (which are part of a now completed script.)

And now, news from David! ✨

This month, David worked hard on our email and itch.io pages, as well as transcribing our Patreon/public Q&As. He also did a ton of sound effect work this month and will continue that into next month as well. This month, he added sound effects for three Step 2 Moments.

Conclusion

As we wrap up this post, we also wave goodbye to the last full month of summer! Soon, the Sunset Bird tourists will head home and we’ll have this peaceful seaside town back to ourselves. It’s the perfect time to ding-dong-ditch your elderly neighbors.
