When you think of it, a lot could have happened between Tamarack and the MC, which could have caused them to drift from the end of Step 1 to Step 2. Will they be able to reconnect this Fall? Or are they both going to stay apart, wondering what went wrong, too afraid to talk to the other....
You can become friends during certain scenes in Step 2!

What are the circumstances for this to trigger? My MC for example goes with Qiu so naturally he can't exactly go with Tamarack too since he wouldn't try forcing them to go together.
That would trigger this scene if you're close to Tam. It is awkward but less sad if you're neighbors. But you can't choose Qiu and not have Tam feel bad about it if you're friends with her.

For the sake of a completionist run - I probably would encounter this, but it is so hard to do. I remember doing a full "indifferent" run with Cove and it was tough (as I also experimented with being as distant + antagonistic as possible)...but I did go back to an earlier save after completing it to make them be friends in later life (which actually resulted in interesting reactions/interactions). So, I'll likely attempt something similar, a friends with no one run, then go back and befriend them by reloading an earlier save.

In my last playthrough of the step 2 prologue I accidentally realized I could do this, so it's really cool to see further ramifications of the choice. Awkwardness of saying bye to someone and seeing them again moments later is so real.
