EARLY ACCESS (FREE) - Audio Narration for Demon Soul #18 (aka Chapter 20)
Here's the next one. Took a few attempts cos I'm trying out audio tweaks but it probably wasn't the best episode to run tests with because most of the character's dialogue kinda required yelling; otherwise they would've sounded like they were all shouting in lower case.
I would really appreciate some feedback on how this one sounds though. Does it sound better? Does it sound worse? Does it sound exactly the same? Have I just... introduced new and different issues now? I really don't have an ear for this sort of stuff. I may have done once but that was before I spent quite a lot of hours standing in front of 100+ watt amps blasting out thrash metal. So yeah - heavily relying on feedback... from my...
…very quiet audience that, in the majority, often just kinda stares at me in silence for some reason…
I have learned some of the lingo though. Like 'muddy'. The problem I've got (I think) is that, if I do the normal 'professional' Parametric EQ, Compress, Loudness Normalisation & Hard Limiter stuff post-production... the end result is a bit 'muddy'. If I try and remove the 'mud', however, it reveals the issues in the actual recording, i.e. sound bouncing off walls and ceilings n' stuff. So it's a bit of a damned if I do/damned if I do-do thing. Probably am going to need to look into those weird spikey soundproofing foam thingies. And whether you're even allowed to stick shit like that to walls and ceilings that don't belong to you cos you're only renting them.
I kinda wish I hadn't decided to try and work on this aspect tbh. Its been a bit Pandora's Box-ish. I'm gonna lose the ability to do the voice acting at this rate due to overthinking audio too much. I'm not a sound technician and I don't care.
In other news - I bit the bullet and sent some pitch emails out to a couple of relevant 'brands' today in an effort to try and collaborate / do some sponsored ads. It's not so much that I've taken a stand against doing that sort of thing. It's just that I've literally only ever been approached by complete and utter scams. Or... some legitimate companies but it's like... WoW Boosting n' stuff. And I just... I... I don't wanna. Why people trying to get me in trouble? lol.
It is technically against ToS so I'd just rather not. Not that I necessarily owe Blizzard anything (at this point; it does kinda feel like they hate me). I just... know how I feel about boosting and I would rather not advertise it. I follow rules; I'm cool like that.
But yeah - I don't know if it would be stupid / unprofessional of me to just say the brands I've emailed today but I can assure you I only went out to companies that (I think) offer something my audience would actually be interested in.
…I was gonna say 'so like... butt plugs n' Magic the Gathering cards or something...' but I won't... cos that would be far too silly...
Anywho - Cheers mates! See ya soon-ish.
