Favorite bad author L. Ron Hubbard: Battlefield Earth was absolutely enthralling despite everything wrong about it.
Just finished Ghost Dog after joes recommendation. What a fucking great film! Amazing from start to finish, every bit of nuance holds up.
I also have a great fondness for "Ghost Dog". It came out when I was in high school and was one of the first movies that I ever drove myself to go see (at some tiny arthouse theater) after getting my driver's license. I have a copy on DVD around here somewhere....

Franklin W Dixon and David Eddings got me into reading as a kid. Don't know if The Hardy Boys author ever did anything wrong but Eddings and his wife aren't what you would say, good people from what I've read online. That said, The Belgariad was the greatest series to 10 year old me.
I had a bunch of Hardy Boys books as a kid and the biggest thing about them is probably that they’re quietly copaganda, especially that brown-covered one that talked about criminalistics and forensic science. I specifically remember bite pattern analysis getting mentioned in that book, but this year I read a book about how bite pattern analysis is complete bullshit.
