The Israeli military has a background check on everyone... especially Israeli citizens. you can't join if you have any type of criminal record and you have to go through a physical and mental check before you join.. and they are more extensive if you go to a combat unit. also it is VERY uncommon for foreigners who aren't jewish to join the military and I assume people look at them like psychos.. I've never herd of that happening in all my 28 years of living in this country..

I was a dumb teenager when I read “on killing” so maybe this memory is distorted, but I remember a lot of it being about the extreme psychic damage the average person takes for killing and how reluctant people are to do it even in war. Weird that the author is now telling cops killing is better than sex
