Whenever Joe says Calvary instead of cavalry I picture the protestants arriving suddenly

An incredible history lesson - riveting, self revealing, troubling, and big ol lol’s. I would have been SO stoked had Joe been my history professor at university. I hope he gets that sorta opportunity.

23:00 It’s important to remember that until remarkably recently, peasant forces weren’t paid in cash but looting privileges. In some cases, namely the Crusades, the war was little more than a pretext for the looting.

Sexualizing a cartography of China is probably the most British coded thing ever

Like this comment if you’d buy a “Koko says topple the shogunate” shirt 🖐️

I wonder if anyone's ever done a series about those two random officers who were suddenly appointed "court emissaries" and had to fake it all the way to Japan and back?

It still gives me a great deal of satisfaction that the Down Under Uruk-hai war criminal ensured his own dowfall by suing some hugely respected investigative journalists for defamation... you know, the sort of people who KEEP RECEIPTS when they report on "meat's back on the menu" activities.

I forget where I heard it, but Special Forces and their fanboys develop a unique disregard for anything and everything which keeps them in the field. A sort of tip of the spear dismissing not only the shaft but the warm body holding it and the formation as a whole kind of situation In ordinary contexts this translates to them being uniquely disrespectful to the cooks, doctors, and engineers. When combined with the disregard for officers, intelligence, and lawyers this lead to a bunch of them (50) thinking they could get away with just eating out of cans and getting sick on leaky barely-working boats without enough weapons and no plan and barely any knowledge of the country of Venezuela (30 million) which they just sort of assumed they could take over at gunpoint legally Other extraordinary contexts include, yes, dismissing free legal advice from people who are trying very hard to keep you out of trouble. I think I even saw a mildly equivocal newspaper article about it the other day, so the press must seriously be considering ditching them entirely

The advantage of doing the Autistic (and also Irish) 20 feet ahead is that it lets you see new things first, and isn't that what's life is really about?

Some guy: Hey chief cool red robe, where did you get it? Kwak: Thanks, dyed it myself with the menstrual blood of virgins and now I have mystical powers and am bulletproof! Dude: ... what

Bless his heart but I looked away for a second and Joe was talking of "fake asians" (agents) deceiving the Japanese and I thought he had gone on a tangent about tiktokkers or some new brainrot social media trend Re: war crimes and the ongoing Australian proceedings, one thing that keeps coming up is some people's frantic desire to believe that loving war crimes doesn't come from being sick in the head and/or hate. If you can convince them war crimes (against people they hate) are counter-productive or ineffective they will just go full-mask off and admit they're down bad for them anyway. If you never (fully) nut, you can never achieve post-nut clarity It's kind of co-morbid or co-dependent with the McKinsey-brained bloodless liberal technocrat position that if war crimes are counter-productive and/or inefficient they are sub-optimal and hence not preferable, though if it's easier to just keep doing them than rewire the system then why not?

@29:17 Music changes everything. Change the music to the trailer of Home Alone to something more John Carpenter - you have 2 undercover police officers trying to take down the leader of the local mob. How else did they afford that house on a single income. Kevin. That's how.

Oh boy! I've got the joint all to myself. Guess I'll take of these pants and put my feet up and listen to some dumb military history.
