Joe and Tom are once again joined by Gregk Foley of Blood Work to talk about the US Army's Operation Aphrodite during WWII. When a bunch of engineers attempted to create the world's first suicide attack drone. It resulted in a series of dead pilots, nearly blowing up several British villages, and one dead Kennedy.

The nazis also had a drone aircraft program, but it was somewhat different. A fighter aircraft kind of sat on top of the bomber on a scaffolding like frame, flew it to target, and detached. I think they used Ju-88s for it. The modified bomber had a kind of lance that stuck out from the front which I think was some kind of contact detonator, but it might have been an antenna. It has been forever since I looked into it.

Subway got taken to court by the Australian Department of Veterans' Affairs for copyright infringement in 2008. A few years back Subway was selling ANZAC biscuits around ANZAC Day, but they weren't using one of the Australian War Memorial recipes (there are 2, one has coconut, one doesn't) and they didn't get permission to use the term ANZAC. "ANZAC" has been a protected term since 1921, and the recipe was protected in 1994. If you want to make ANZAC Biscuits commercially you have to get permission to use the name and you have to use one of the AWM recipes. They don't go after community fund raisers selling ANZAC biscuits, but I'm glad they went after Subway.
I have family who did ColesWorths inhouse legal forever and one of their perpetual bunyips/bugbears was some grasshopper proposing 'so how about we revisit this existing/roll out this new product that...' and their full time jobs were to go 'no. Given the discussion about Joe Kennedy Jr, I have a book recommendation for everyone- "How the Irish Became White," by Jewish trade unionist and historian Noel Ignatiev. It examines Irish immigrant subjugation of black Americans in the 19th century, and how this was used to secure social mobility. The Kennedys are one of his case studies. Ignatiev was proud of his Jewish heritage... but he was also proud of his Polish heritage, and he was one of the first people to call Israel a new nazi state. And yes, Zionists didn't like him much. Pretty much whenever he published something you could guarantee there'd be howls of protest from major Zionist groups because he'd written it. Even if he wasn't saying anything bad about Israel.
