Lions Led by Robots 23: Going to Child Prison
We're nearing the end of our LLBR season on Neon Genesis Evangelion. Things continue to get weirder and weirder and Shinji gets thrown in child prison.

Oh yeah, I believe this is the episode that the wiki talks about how Anno had to lie to the network with a straight face to allow it to be broadcast, because a sex scene wasn't allowed, he had to say that what was happening offscreen was actually Kaji giving Misato a massage
Hey I went back to listen to all the G Gundam episodes and they are still good. It’s a silly series that provided some relief from the insanity of life. Eva is definitely more popular and Tom has a lot more to say about it. Robots are cool.
Im sure you guys totally planned to finish up Eva right before the 30th anniversary coming up in February
Thank you Joe and Liam, highlight of my month right here! Can’t wait for the series finale! GOOPMAXING !!!
Joe and Tom*
Plzzz plzzz plzzz do one for .hack//sign
Recently learnt about the Salt Spoon, a gadget made for people like Joe's uncle! It's a spoon which sends a tiny electric jolt through your tongue and makes your brain THINK it tastes salt. Apparently it works!
I find Fuyutsuki's story really funny. He finds out that Second Impact was an inside job, threatens to expose the conspiracy to the world, and Gendo is like "lol, good luck with that, they're going to just assassinate you before you if you try", and then he has the whole plot explained to him by Gendo who basically says "You can't do anything to stop what's coming, but I've got a plan to screw over Seele, so working with me is the only possible good option", and so Fuyutsuki is just kind of defeatedly going along with this asshole and his insane plan for the rest of his life.
Oh, Gendo LOVES Yui, so much, maybe too much.
I feel like these episodes, specifically when Shinji is stuck in his Eva, work to build Misato as a character. You've pointed out that she seems to view her relationship with the pilots in a more commander/soldier kind of way, and that the kindness she shows to Shinji is more a form of manipulation and control. However, you cannot tell me that she isn't genuinely worried for Shinji when he disappears into the LCL. She has come to care for Shinji in a far more personal, motherly way. She actually likes Shinji as a person, not as a tool.
Shinji's fight against Zuruel is the best fucking fight in the entire series, goddamn.
Shinji choosing to stay and pilot the Eva, as well as his whole conversation with Kaji, is essential to his character arc. Him running away from Nerv, from all the people he has grown to know, is equivalent to running away from life, from all the pain and shittiness. And trying to leave life is death. If Shinji continues to run away and not pilot the Eva, the Angel will achieve its goal and everyone will die, including him. The only options are to continue to fight and endure the hardships of life, or die. Shinji chooses to fight, to live.
The thing with Ginax and Anno is that the company was run by one of his friends from college, and he had promised Anno that he would get the rights to the various media they owned so that Anno's new studio could make more shows and movies with them, but then he screwed him over at the last minute and sold the rights to whomever paid more for it, which is why the new FLCL was so bad. So not only did Anno and Khara not get what they were promised, Anno was personally betrayed by one of his friends.
Pluto would be perfect
Was the nazi flag over the whitehouse badly photoshopped? How did you know it wasn't just the news?
Once again I recommend Pluto. Gunbuster would also work, though.
If you're looking for a quick follow-up to Eva, I suggest Gunbuster! It was Hideaki Anno's directorial debut, and is exactly the right mix of workout and robot nonsense for LLBD. If I had to describe it, I'd say that it's Top Gun meets Starship Troopers/The Forever War.
Angry pajamas.
Watch Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans as the next series.
Is this the shortest RPWC segment ever?
Ah, remembered you mentioned wanting suggestions on other shows: - RahXephon, another "teenagers having a bad time with robots" show. This time the robot can sing! - Eureka Seven, this time the robots can do air skateboarding, and also better than you think. A bit on the big side though. - Witch from Mercury! Because iconic splat moments.
Low sodium salt is potassium per Jelen Rebnie. Apparently makes brasssicas weird.
So if it was Mucinex-D, that would be the Pseudephedrine getting it seized. If it was regular Mucinex, it would probably be the Dextromethorphan, but that would be strange to me for it to be seized.
Joe starring in a BJJ-based spiritual sequel to /Green Room/
Have you considered podcasting from between two flaming braziers to keep the miasma at bay
Tom is a finer Evangelion fan than I for not pointing out that N2 mines are non-nuclear weapons (that's the N2 part). It doesn't really matter because they're a plot device that do everything nukes do besides the radioactive stuff. EMP and big bang
I was paying 130 a month while I was training catch wrestling. 3 days a week but the upside was I was also able to use the gym so my coach also became my personal trainer.
Intro theme would be a great ringtone
Doors locked. Incense lit. Anus prepared. It's time to let the robots in.
