FYI: The local pronunciation is, right or wrong, "cord-a-lane."

I lived in Idaho from age 11 (1969) until 1990. It was conservative but mostly normal. Gun ownership was common, but nobody ran around Albertsons with Glocks on their hips or displayed AR-15s in their truck's gun racks. "You can't go home again?" Damn right.

Joe hates bagpipes and yet the theme song to his podcast literally has bagpipes?

I
Ingrid Havlik · July 2, 2025

Oh sure. Bob Matthew's was anti-socialist, but after meeting federal agents, he was kept warm by the government for the rest of his life!

W
William Mills · July 2, 2025

This podcast and WTYP both have to start using their mystical powers more wisely. Every time y’all talk about something historical, it awakes. Coeur d’Alene is in the news again.

I am listening to this at work and I'm trying my best not to laugh at the puberty voices.

Asatru Folk Assembly is the nazi group. Fun part is, Troth Asatru fucking hate them for ruining paganism.

S
Shanti · June 13, 2025

Nate is right about San Diego fascism, my lib aunt was telling me that people in her nice suburban neighborhood were mounting a revolt against receiving a cute little optional compost bin from the city

R
Richie Q · June 13, 2025

The Mickey Mouse voice is so hilarious. It reminds me of the animated short on YouTube where Mickey and Goofy argue about leaking a dossier during the vietnam war.

Oh don’t worry, former state rep Matt shea is back and his hate church is invading Seattle as of current

Joe at 22mins 11sec sent me laughing hard enough to drop my boxing wraps that I was rolling up.

Some people count cows while driving. Growing up we counted compounds and would guess “hippie, yuppie, or fundie?”

It's Gay Men Cuming, Nate.

To be fair, somewhere in Afghanistan or the woods of PA there is a dodge f-150, and nobody knows the fuck why anymore.

P

Afghanistan was all hilux and corollas. With Mercedes lorries. Still working to turn my chevy into a jingle truck.

As a native to the PNW, I truly belive that it is some kind of cosmic punishment that one of the truly most gorgeous places in the world has to have some of the biggest psychos. I remember the QAA episode regarding Idaho militias and someone described Idaho and the general PNW in the best way possible: "It will break your heart"

J

Early spoiler: by the end of this series Robert Matthews will in fact fit inside of a shoe

This series brings me so much joy, man.

As a native San Diego who’s been around the world and moved back…it’s going purple. There’s still some realllllly red areas in East County, and the richer areas are also red. But it’s shifting!

"His fingers were too short for the chanter." My high school band has bagpipes. Some of those are played by 14 year old girls. How tiny was this dude?

M
Mariana Trench · June 9, 2025

Hates bagpipes… uses bagpipes on intro?

i

Great guys! Why did he have to be called Richard Butler? I kept getting Psychedelic Furs vibes...

W

Crywank mention hit me like a jump scare

N
Noblese Oblahaj · June 9, 2025

The virgin Bob vs the Chad Bill Millin. One is a nazi with fingers too short to play the pipes. The other kills nazis, plays the pipes under fire at D-Day

N
Noblese Oblahaj · June 9, 2025

Guys, hate to break this to you- but white nationalists, evangelicals, etc- they fucking love it when kids show up at gatherings and say whatever fucked up things they believe. Usually it's just parroting what they're told or whatever, but if they're really into it and speak well, people love it. No idea why. If I saw an eight year old talking about anarchy I'd look at them like a dog someone taught to speak- they're eight. They clearly don't understand shit.

Stomachs of Wind. New band name

Electric Meat

N

I was expecting the opening bit to be about how Oreida was actually a traditional Irish name

B
Buttercreamqueen · June 9, 2025

I think Tom is confusing Iceland with Scandinavia. Norway, Sweden, Finland and parts of Russia are home to the Sami people. But there were no other people on the island when the norse came and settled Iceland with their celtic slaves. Björk's parents are both Icelandic. Her father Guðmundur was an electrictian and head of the electrician trade union for a while. Her mother Hildur Rúna was a homeopath and an eco-activist. Not all Icelandics are blue eyed and blond haired.

I worked with a dude from Hayden Lake and he said he was from CDA (Core duhlane). But I am from western Montana so this is just real talk for me. But then tend to stay off the Reservation.

O
OssumFried · June 9, 2025

Currently living in Idaho and I'm reeling every time they say it, haha. It's as you typed, Core duhlane, which I hate roughly translates to the "heart of the deal".

W
Winter · June 9, 2025

I am so surprised! I don’t think New Hampshire was mentioned this entire episode?

T
Thomas Layton · June 9, 2025

Going to a camp at Hayden Lake sounds great until you know what that is.

D
David Schuller · June 9, 2025

Locally, we pronounced it “Coor-duh’lane”

D
David Schuller · June 9, 2025

It was only a matter of time until the Hayden Lake, Idaho neo-Nazis made an appearance.

O
OssumFried · June 9, 2025

That's the fun part, they were always there. The compound up there may be gone but goddamn is it still racist as fuck. They don't salute or wear swastikas anymore, they wear suits and get elected.

H
Hey mind your business, name's not important · June 9, 2025

Can confirm everything Joe said about The Turner Diaries. The poor writing is almost as bad as the racism.

H
Hey mind your business, name's not important · June 9, 2025

It's been awhile since I've immersed myself in Christian Identity, Robert Matthews, Richard Butler etc. and Ive forgotten what a bunch of insufferable assholes these guys were. Besides being Nazis they all spent their time being annoyingly intellectually superior while being complete knobs.

S
Saint Muerte · June 8, 2025

How is Mickey Mouse saying "I'm not gay, just racist." The funniest in the world to me.

P
Phillip Alden · June 8, 2025

True story: There’s a white supremecicist compound in, I believe, Idaho. I can’t remember the name but they had a “racist hotline.” The funny part is that the main guy who answered the phone most often sounded just like Elmer Fudd. I used to listen to this radio show and they called it, and I swear, he answered and it sounded like; “Helwo. Wacist Hotline.”

N
Newman · June 8, 2025

Southwest Washington resident here. Somebody blew up a body with 50 lb of tannerite less than a mile from my house earlier this year..... I'm midway between Seattle and Portland

P
Phillip Alden · June 10, 2025

“Blew up a body?” Forgive my ignorance but I’m wondering: Did they blow up a dead human body? And if that’s the case: 1. Is the use of Tannerite significant for some reason or could it have been any explosive? 2. Is there some specific reason they used 50lbs of explosive to blow up a human body? Using 50lbs seems excessive. 3. My final question: Is there something of significance about a mile from your house? Or does your house hold some kind of significance? Thanks in advance for humoring me.
