Surely it'd be "A Neice Too Close"

Holy shit, every time I think I know what a piece of shit Patton was, y'all do another episode with him as a side character.

I’m sailing in the Tall Ships Challenge this summer and one of the other ships participating is Patton’s yacht… I’m gonna be looking out across Lake Superior thinking, “well, well, well, if it isn’t SV Niecefucker”

Listening to Joe talk about dog shit on sidewalks reminds me of my last visit to Seattle. But it wasn’t dog shit…

Noblese Oblahaj · May 5, 2025

Patton liked the Nazis so much he was arming them before the war even ended

D
DrShockMaster · May 5, 2025

I wish I had known about Pattons niece fucking back when I was in college. I knew this guy that thought Patton was the greatest.

You know being a tank crewman is hard on the body because every video of tank maintenance looks like Rammstein's music video for Sonne

God damn it guys, since my last bout with covid if I laugh too hard I start coughing uncontrollably. You nearly killed me. Nice job lol

Dick Pancake must have had a hard time in training (or is it officer school?).

DUDE i am 95% sure that the book Joe mentioned which claims Patton was secretly assassinated was written by my mom's spook uncle, hear me out: dude's name was Stephen Skubik and he was orphaned at birth cuz my gandparents' family was too poor for another kid. they dropped him at a ukranian church, he was adopted by another ukranian family (the Skubiks), and he went on to become a US air force intelligence officer directly liasing with Stepan Bandera, the leader of the ukranian fascist movement in WWII. i tried to track down a copy of his Patton assassination book but couldn't get my hands on one. however i did find another book he authored titled Republican Humor which is exactly as dogshit as you would imagine. i wasn't aware of him working for Fox news as Joe mentioned but it would fit perfectly with everything else i know about him. on the one hand thank god my family orphaned him but on the other hand if they hadn't then he probably wouldn't have turned into a fascist spook. i can't believe he actually (sorta) came up on the podcast

K
Karl Childers · May 5, 2025

okay i've done a little more research and there is a much less obscure book co-authored by Bill O'Reilly and published in 2014, so Joe was probably talking about the other author of that book Martin Dugard, but Stephen Skubik's book about the Patton assassination was published in 1993. i haven't read either book but Skubik's name is mentioned in a review i found of the O'Reilly book and i would guess he was also cited as a source. -- and guess what, i just found a copy of Skubik's book! i managed to snag a first edition manuscript signed by my Uncle Spook himself, cost a pretty penny but no way i can pass that up. (notably, the O'Reilly review states Skubik was part of the US Counterintelligence Corps, whereas his obituary said he was Air Force Intelligence, which is why i just call him a Spook)

Big Nephew gotta be the next big bit. Watch out, are you sleeping with your relatives while being a horrible person? Big Nephew is gonna get ya.

C
Catherine Bulens · May 4, 2025

Okay, I have some insight - the Fox News Patton death book your talking about was written by Bill O’Reilly, and regrettably I have read it. O’Reilly conveniently skips over all of Patton’s character flaws, calls him prophetic for believing the US was going to have to fight the Soviets, and very strongly insinuates that the guy whose truck hit Patton was either a Soviet spy or at least Soviet sympathetic, and killed Patton on purpose. He also briefly speculates in the book that the SS Werewolf division (the guys who were supposed to be the stay behind network of SS terrorists) may have had something to do with Patton’s death? I read the book when I was 15 and remember being really confused about how the book was saying he was assassinated by both Nazis and communists.

I'll have the Dick Pancake. A panicked 40s man is dragged to the kitchen screaming "Noooo!"

S
Spaceman Splif · May 4, 2025

As a retired Artilleryman I think all combat arms branches are lousy at preparing you for life after the military. I know way too much about ballistics and I never used it after the Army.

E
Eric A Gentzler · May 4, 2025

Depends on what we're talking about. Being a civilian most of the military is bad at. My work skills as a submarine nuclear propulsion mechanic has translated to a number of decent jobs, I'm a water plant operator and industrial mechanic post navy

Speaking of motor oil in to the dick and balls. I am pretty sure Rick Rude died trying to inject Viagra into his Weiner directly.

"We're gonna dial it back and be normal... ish." Golden line by Nate.

A
AthenAltena · May 4, 2025

Oh and it was Bill O'Reilly of all people who wrote the book Killing Patton. Part of a series of "Killing [Blank]" including Kennedy, Lincoln and Jesus.

holy shit Pig Town is the name of a historically jewish neighbourhood in Baltimore, this is literally a John Waters movie (also i’ve met John Waters and he’s such a lovely man, also he fucking hated Roy Cohn)

H

Really keen on unsubscribing from the "niece-coin" timeline. I just have to lay my head on the train tracks like Inception right?

K

Dude, I want the innocent timeline of Sinbad as a genie. Of course we wouldn't have 9/11 to laugh at. Tomato potato.

Welcome to Lions Lead By Donkeys. The only podcast that takes 3 hours listen to an hour long episode. Because you're laughing so hard you keep losing track of the history and having to rewind.

M

Richard Pryor wrote a lot of Blazing Saddles, which is part of why it’s like that. Also, Brooks wanted Richard Pryor and John Wayne to play Sheriff Bart and the Waco Kid, respectively - the studio was terrified of having Pryor do it, and allegedly (although I don’t quite believe this) Wayne loved the Waco Kid part, but thought it clashed too much with his image, which is how Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder wound up in those roles.

B
Brendan Bonner · May 6, 2025

I wrote a whole paper about the history of American westerns for an American studies class in college. I analyzed blazing saddles for it lol.

A lot of my family is from villages around Hammelburg, I didn’t know this happened there. Its very odd to hear the history of a random shitty town I happen to know

A

I'm sorry Joe, i saw a documentary Hogan's Heroes that told me time in a Nazi POW camp was a ton of fun

S
SouthpawFL · May 4, 2025

The fun thing is Hammelburg was mentioned a bunch as a local town.

The Bad in Bad Orb means bath. In a place name it means this is historically a wellness place. My grandpa went to Bad Orb and came back a non-smoker. I guess they showed him the orb.
