Came here as prompted by the more recent history of Armenia. Fucking hell dude. I’ve known OF the Armenian genocide but never to any significant degree of detail. Why isn’t this coveted in any history curriculum in American schools? We covered the holocaust. This is a very similar level of brutality and dehumanization. Arguably it adds a lot of context to the holocaust itself and how this sort of thing occurs. But nope, just gloss over it when covering ww1 I guess ok. My guess is that the nation, of what the ottoman empire would become, still very much does not acknowledge it whereas Germany openly acknowledges the horrors of the holocaust? Great work on this. Thank you. Difficult listen but everyone should give it a listen. It’s very important and will forever be relevant.
The one good boy scout troop?
FUCK TO ARMENIA 🇦🇱👎TURKEY CHAMPION🦃
That’s the Albanian flag. Appreciate the representation for the pod, though!
Fun Animal Fact: Stoats have been known to immobilize rabbits by dancing.
Spring weather… it dumped 6 inches of snow in my yard here in the Rocky Mountains… guess I’ll try to go outside and enjoy it after this vital and necessary episode.
Thanks for making this series Joe. I know it must not be easy for you, but I think you're doing vital work to educate people on things that must be known.
Not gonna lie, this episode had me sobbing in my car on my way home.
Werewolves of Armenia is a pretty good song by Powerwolf, just saying.
Joe had better get the “Fuck to Armenia, Türkiye Champion” shirts printed. 😝

A great, well-researched and truly gut-punching series. Kudos for a great job, though I think I'll need a few episodes' worth of Soviet military boondoggles to soothe my soul after this.
I tried to convince hubby we should fly into London a week earlier to see the live... Apparently we both have to work or something
I use your podcast for homeschooling my 13-Year-Old daughter. Your podcast is usually favorite part of history. " I'm glad he's not trying to make this one. Funny".
Every time Joe says Armenicons I just think of Transformers that wear Adidas tracksuits and turn in to a Yugo with a Mercedes badge zip tied to the grill
HARD SAME
What was the name of the episode yall mentioned you'd covered a battle in-depth on?
I think the episode you're referring to was The Battle Sarikamish.
I’m in love with Mother holy shit
Real talk: I will never not find hope and beauty in the bravery of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. There is nothing more human than standing in the path of a juggernaut to protect your family, your neighbors, and all that you hold dear.
The bit where the government might have stopped crimes against humanity, but parliament was on vacation: big DNC energy
The device!!!
Holy fucking shit Joe. I don't know how you do this. I'm sobbing (dear goodness I should not have listened to this at 2am) and I'm not even remotely connected to it. You're a tough bloke.
Shout out to the Armenian Mom Guy! 👏
Gobble gobble Armenians Gobble gobble
🇦🇲 Armenia forever
Joe I ment to ask this earlier but maybe it will be covered next ep. You mentioned some of your sources are by a Turkish historian who had to flee the country do to his stance on the genocide (ie it happened). How much is genocide acknowledgement a thing amongst Turkish intelligentsia/opposition to the current gov
as an armenian, it’s a hard listen for many folks but it’s so so so important. our history is actively trying to be erased by turkey and azerbaijan still to this day. its the harsh reality of armenian culture that genocide is so tightly woven into what we have today. i have no records past my great grandparents that immigrated to the us because turkey burned them all in the genocide. little things like that i think many cultures take for granted
sorry for the ted talk lol. it’s frustrating watching your already small ethnicity get genocided continuously in broad daylight but it’s a joke to say the genocide doesn’t exist
I've read forty days, can confirm, is pretty good
I don't know how you do it, but you make listening to episodes about genocide approachable and only very depressing
The Three Pashas = the most dysfunctional power trio until The Police (the band).
I wish it was possible to bring king of the hill back with all the original voice actors. With today's situations I would like to believe King of the Hill could be the voice of reason. Remember, Hank shit on GW for having a weak handshake and questioned his whole political identity. I mean, it could be what changes a few people's minds. Sorry, I am high.
The camp would be stocked with everything they'd need like pre-dug holes...
Fuck to Armenia 🗣️ Turkey Champions 🏆
Uzbek 🤝 Armenian invent plov 👍👍 Turk dog people live in steam tunnel 👎👎 (this is a reference to a previous episode pls no kill me)
I took a break from these to listen to something a bit more light hearted. Dan Carlin’s Blueprint for Armageddon. But then in episode 3, surprise! More genocide!
Inside you there are three pashas, which the two wolves in there are trying to eat.
Very powerful episode Joe, thank you very much for making this one.
Oh boy time for more horrors
Serbian! It was a Serbian nationalist that shot Frans Ferdinand
Joe, thank you for these episodes. As a Pakistani Muslim, we have a cultural tendency of praising the Ottoman Empire/Turkish Republic without contending with it's darker aspects, and I feel your presentation carefully sets up the causes and results of the genocide perfectly. I know it's not easy listening for anyone, but I do appreciate it.
