Check out our merch store:

A King has a fever dream and launches the 7th crusade, following the exact same battle plan as a previous failed crusade because he thinks he's built different. He isn't.

The crusades era is really funny when you consider the difference in perspectives because from the Christian side it's like "we bravely fought the Saracens and gave them hell and it was a full conflict between civilisations" And from the Muslim perspective it's like "holy shit holy shit holy shit the steppe people are spilling across the borderlands" while they push crusaders away with their offhand. Like there's a wolf savaging you, and also a terrier nipping at your heels.

I don't understand why Nazi/alt-right guys even like the crusader imagery when crusaders pretty consistently suck at their jobs.

I can't help but wonder if the Pope fell for the whole Prestor John thing (who if you don't know was most likely Genghis fucking Khan).

Getting the Punisher tattoo covered by a second Punisher tattoo with the vertical teeth lines made out of the letters ACAB and the eyes are cartoonish dead pigs with the little x-ed out eyes.

As a craft brewer based on the massachusetts coast (just north of Salem) i’m surprised i haven’t seen a “crusader corpse DIPA” yet though thinking about it that is a sweet beer name… 😂

I waited to see if the urge to post this subsided. It didn't and I'm sorry. Overeem wasn't all that juiced in Pride. He was a skinny bean pole at 205. Once Pride died and Overeem went back to K-1 at heavyweight is the unveiling of Ubereem.

I went to a public elementary school whose mascot was the crusaders, it took them 40 years to realize that was probably a bad mascot.

By the time you get to the 7th crusade, Louis IX is basically a flanderized Richard Cœur de Leon

What if the crusader tattoo is a tattoo of the train used in the Reading Railroad's five-car 'Crusader' express service?

The number system we have was first recorded in India and transmitted to Europe via the Islamic world, so that's why we call them "Arabic". Muslims did write the oldest chemistry text that we know of though so that's pretty cool.

Crusade episodes best episodes! Y’all should do some of the wonderfully stupid northern crusades. Sergei Eisenstein has a wonderful Soviet Propaganda film about one of them as well…

this episode suggests to me that one factor explaining why war leaders were so bad in the middle ages is that sometimes the stupid thing worked obviously a minor factor given all the problems of aristocracy but, y'know, why make an effort to land all your troops at once if stragglers help you win? sometimes charges end in your knights being churned into pink slime but sometimes you kill the enemy leader while he's hanging dong after a refreshing bath

N

The link between modern man and the Crusaders is hearing "don't pursue Lu Bu", going nah I'm built different, and then getting floored

Listening to an old episode where you talk about loving fantasy- you should check Warhammer fantasy. Gotrek and Felix is fun, especially when they're fighting Skaven and the voice actor is doing rat voices. You should also check out Dark Harvest by Josh Renolds, which is like a hard-boiled detective novel with horror and ancient gods in an innsmouth kind of town.

Loved the opener. Skanking Towards Bethlehem would be either a great time traveling novel or a horrible charity album.
