Once upon a time, a man became a wandering warrior, testing himself against the best in the land and beat the hell out of them with a combination of hyper violence and trolling.

"Hating your dad to the point you become one of probably the best sword masters in Japanese history is an incredible move. I gotta respect it." Frederick the Great behavior
“Thr only hoes I care about are in the garden.” Comedy Gold.
Truly inspiring that Unlabored Flawlessness from Ninja Gaiden was based on an historical artifact.
Regular Guinness is not something I enjoy much, but Guinness Foreign Extra is fantastic.
So Musashi lived like the Bushido Unabomber
lmfao
This man is like an ancient Japanese Rambo. Japan-bo!
Craft brewer here, and tom is correct 😂
My japanese professor told me musashi first used the boat oar sword to block, embedding the demon's sword in it and disarming him, before beating him to death. Idk, confirm/deny?
JONATHAN RICHMAN AND THE MODERN LOVERS MENTIONED!!!
Were the spear-fighting monks the Ikko Ikki?
Probably not. Iirc, the Ikko Ikki were largely wiped out by Oda Nobunaga well before Musashi would have been born.
Hoping someday LLBD covers Felix Sparks. WWII hero who loved killing Nazis (a net positive). He also was the one who liberated Dachau, then, after the war, spent his twilight years fighting holocaust denial and fighting for stronger gun control legislation. Feel like it’s up Joe’s alley
While I mostly agree with homeboy, how you gonna fight Nazis with no guns?
Played it when I was younger, but only now do I realize Brave Fencer Musashi was about him taken to an alternate world to save it.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre squaring up on stage is the stuff of LEGENDS!
I could talk about food law/culture for hours
Two-Sword style is immensely strong. Used properly, it's almost invincible.
I'm responding to the food take at the end from my brewing job. Guinness is the third best beer made at that brewery. Harp and Smithwick are far superior.
This story screams of undiagnosed Autism.
Re: pizza, it is my favorite dish to cook from scratch. Roll out some dough, add the red sauce and mozzarella, basil and garlic, maybe some diced onions and peppers roasted in vinegar and hot sauce, maybe some shredded turkey sprinkled on top maybe another protein. Ez and tasty and cost effective. All your food groups in one go too
Good to know the art of using one’s body odor to their defensive or offensive strategy has been passed down from ancient Japanese martial artist, too the smelly neckbeards at your local comic & game store who sit and play Magic the Gathering for 8 hours on a Tuesday. Musashi would definitely be a Magic the Gathering elite with that body odor tang, with a deck that only causes sensory distress and physical pain.
Finally Nate sets up the live stream cause I would find it hard to fly every time y’all have a show… yeah you Nate! ✌🏼 make Joe pay u more!
I don't know where Tom got his info on Jonathan Richmond and the Modern Lovers. Firstly they were American. The first interation of the Lovers included Jerry Harrison later of Talking Heads and David Robinson later of The Cars. Their first album is an absolute classic of proto punk. That line up lasted one album. The rest of the Modern Lovers albums are markedly different in tone and style. As to Jonathan Richmond stopping performing live in 1980 I say really? I saw him live in 1982 or 83 to a packed club of enthusiastic fans.
Miyamoto left home like an Ash Ketchum-Thesehans
"None of the hosts of this show have ever fist-fought each other" ok Joe, but didn't you literally break Nick's leg that one time? Lol. Also I keep forgetting to mention how good the new intro is. Real banger.
Hell fuckin yeah
> Is generally a quite unpleasant human being > Is insanely good at fighting but is not above using stupid but cunning tricks Close enough, welcome back Jotaro Kujo
When you started talking about the warring states part, reminded me of an original Xbox game called Kessen. Honestly a really fun game, kinda want to track it down again
There are SCORES of Japanese games about the Sengoku period. Everyone loves to hate Nobunaga.
Now we know where Steve Jobs learned his hygiene habits.
And sorry Joe, I WILL continue to wash.
There's an Australian comedian of Pakistani descent, who says if you don't see any brown people in an "Indian" restaurant, either staff or customers, DON'T GO THERE. I have a Chinese friend who told me the same rule applies to any Asian restaurants, but you look for yellow people.
Pizza is like sex. Even bad pizza is still pizza.
I never got this perspective, as I feel like shit pizza is REALLY UNPLEASANT.
Joe and Tom y’all, listen… I didn’t think I’d cry over a story about juggalos but here we are. Try it out ACC is an amazing journalist Listen to the show Swindled: The Juggalos (ICP vs The FBI) https://youtu.be/RX2SEHVcmds?si=gXAwZATJ5Ne9GzoQ ICP is actually 1000% in the right on this and it’s just an odd but important story. Power to the people Ps this show always has two stories per episode. The opening story is shorter and related to the second but not the main story. Listen to both just skip ahead if you only want the ICP vs FBI part
Not a juggalo. But you HAVE to respect their game. They literally built an empire. They are the American Dream - outside of their gimmicks ICP are really down to earth - honest about their base and lives. I will say this about jugalos though: I feel safer around them than I do the police. As does my dog.
The Ganryu duel is my favorite. It's legacy is Ganryujima. A weird Japanese MMA organization that still lives in the style vs. style era. It's fighters fight on a raised platform that you can be pushed off of onto a bunch of crash pads hidden by copious fog machines. Western fans affectionately call it Moat FC or Moat Fights.
Kung Fu developed into "Sanda" sometimes known as Chinese Kickboxing where strikes and throws are allowed as well as throwing your opponent off of a raised platform. The sport rules.
I’m assuming Ireland banning the kusari-gama is because of white weebs in the ‘90s who were also weebs for what they thought Irish paganism was. There was probably some weird weeb-on-weeb violence. Edit: also that’s extremely true about Guinness. I’ve had much better Irish stouts, but they have zero market share compared to that.
Weeaboo on Weeaboo Violence is out of control. The stance is clear. We must enact a Tough on Weeaboo Crime Bill. Talking all UwUs, Sussy Bakas, and Body Pillow Pounders. The board is open to suggestions.
That first "Vietnamese" place Tom described is a front, right? They're dealing drugs or something
Came here just to say that, and greek football is playing on the TV 24-7
Hey. I'll fight you. Fight you soft and tenderly Thomas.
The fact that miyamoto was essentially a smelly murder hobo untill at least his 30s when he chills out a bit, lends some credence to my theory that Jesus was doin some murder hobo shit till his 30s when he mellowed out...idk
Everyone knows about Jesus' Wandering Samurai Phase
So all those BJJ guys wearing samurai helmet rashguards for NoGi aren't really following the samurai way?? 😱
Your ritualized and honed combat skill. With heriditary swordsmanship is nothing compared to me showing up late and bearing you to death with an oar.
Hi 😊
