Do you want a movie bonus episode every month, or a second bonus history episode?

Currently our Bonus episodes look like this:

1 history episode

1 Lions Led By Robots (either series or movie)

1 History of Armenia (currently in a video series)

1 movie

Due to these being bonus episodes and therefore being on Patreon it is hard to see how many people are listening to what, though it seems more people are happy with the bonus history episodes than the movie based ones. After talking to the team we all had the idea that we could easily switch out the movie episode for another history episode. Since you are all the one's supporting the show, we leave the choice up to you.

I love Lions lead by Robots.

M

Lmao guess this poll didn't have an effect on the bonus episode this month 😅😅

L
Lions Led By Donkeys Podcast · June 10, 2024

we always work a month ahead of time. So, starting in June.

A
Akko · May 28, 2024

While I would prefer more history I was kinda under the impression the movie episodes were there to give Joe and whoever else is doing research and writing a break from that, or at least not have to do as much, if that's the case I'd totally be happy with keeping a movie episode

M
Mike Lee · June 18, 2024

Yeah, I always took the movie/show episodes as a combination palate-cleanser, and 'pause for breath' between normal episodes / periods of research.

0
0ctomaton · May 28, 2024

PLEASE keep the movies!! I already get history on the main feed, so I enjoy the lighter stuff. Honestly, it's why I subscribed to Patreon. I even have a suggestion for a Robots movie: Atlas. It's Jenny From The Block doing Gundam shit and it rocks. It's an all-around terrible movie, but I had so much fun watching it. Please don't get rid of Robots or movies completely.

A
Andy Elias · May 27, 2024

Would be delighted with more Zoo Crew History Episodes. Francis' Jesse James episode is still one of my favorites, as well as James Garfield and the Boofing Bellows.

R
Rebel Girl · May 26, 2024

Lions Lead By Robots is a pretty auto non listen. What does it have to do with the subject of the podcast again? Historical war movies? More.

S
Smack Wabbit aka Drugs Bunny · June 15, 2024

Yeah I'm a huge anime fan. At first I was really excited for lions led by robots, but I'll admit that now I don't bother with it anymore. This podcast is at its best when it plays to its strengths.

S
Sleepi123 · May 24, 2024

I think the movie episodes, especially the war movies, are great. However I do enjoy the history bonuses more, sometimes more so than the regular episodes.

Gentlemen, these poll results are democracy manifest.

G
Greg Rehm · May 23, 2024

Keep the movie but kill Lions led by Robots, more Zoo crew. SharpesCast was incredible. I read those books and watched the shows when I was in the Marines.

W
Wolf0nKrack · May 23, 2024

I like a mix. Its always a good time when you do movies, but i did find myself here for the historical military mess ups. It would be hard to choose really

R
Roman Jiminey Cricket · May 23, 2024

I basically just want more zoo crew. You guys are really great cast wise.

S
Shelby Homeless Outreach · May 23, 2024

Im glad y’all asked, this was a good poll

A
Ander Pierce · May 23, 2024

Thanks for the poll! Do what you want to, I'm happy either way. AND I love the history episodes. Movies are just fun filler, history is the meat :)

J
Jordan Thompson · May 23, 2024

i think it’s cool to see the cast dispel pop history myths that are present in movies. the deep dives on subjects that are in common parlance with deeper information about said topics is why the movie episodes are great imo, especially the movies/topics that are more well known

D
Drew Copeland · May 23, 2024

I like the Gundam spinoffs as bonus episodes, instead of doing movies have you considered TV series? I personally think you guys would have a great spin on Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar:Legend of Korra

B
Brandon O'Hara · May 23, 2024

While I do enjoy the move/tv reviews, I don’t mind y’all doing a history episode. As long as it’s still a Zoo Crew episode, I am fine with it.

N

J

I’m still waiting for a special about Generation Kill. That’s right into you and Nate’s alley

H
Henry · May 23, 2024

I do love the movie episodes and the Sharpe Show and all that, but man I love when you guys rip into dumb history more

T
Thad · May 23, 2024

Porque no los dos? Why not do both, and just mix it up month to month?

R
Ryan Richey · May 23, 2024

I really like the movie episodes but it always feels like something is missing unless I'm able to watch the movie along with the episode. History is easier to just jump right in while I'm working the FAB.

J
JM · May 23, 2024

I enjoy the one off movie episodes. But Sharpe Show, LLBR, and Romecast I don’t listen too. Its to much to commit 8+ episodes of review to shows I haven’t watched aha

A
Alive Or Trees · May 23, 2024

It doesn't need to be a movie or TV show, but I like for you to have the opportunity for a bonus episode that requires less of Joe, so that more effort can go into the main show and he can occasionally go outside and see the sun.

S
Sean Casselman · May 23, 2024

I really enjoy the Lions Led by Robots content and hope for more Gundam shenanigans.

C
Christopher Mullins · May 23, 2024

As others have said, as long as it is a zoo crew episode, topic doesn’t matter.

N
Nick S. · May 23, 2024

I wouldn't mind just a random bullshit episode where it's all Nate ADHD tangents. 0 prep. All Nate's random thoughts

S
Sam Hood · May 22, 2024

I'm here for the history but enjoy most of the movies.

o
oa · May 22, 2024

i admit i do often enjoy the history episodes more, so if it genuinely wouldn’t be a major jump in workload to take on, i’d say maybe most of them should be history, and maybe every other or every third or could be a movie? or as others suggested, possibly rolling movies more into the Lions Led By Robots slot or something

S
Sebas · May 22, 2024

Sometimes I just need to let my brain rot with the zoo crew and a movie review

K
Kaiju and Chill · May 22, 2024

Do what you guys need to do. We will be here with open arms.

T
TheWanderingBard · May 22, 2024

if the movie episodes help you avoid burnout that's fair enough. In a selfish world, I find the history episodes already strike a nice balance of off-topic humour and information, and I'm just more interested in the stories than in random films.

B
Berderger · May 22, 2024

I'd say make the extra history episode light hearted or on something dumb, to offset the "heavier" stuff of regular episodes.

E
Eulaila · May 22, 2024

I would say i prefer history topics, but if you all need time to do an easy topic once in a while the movie episodes are good too

T
TheLoveWizard · May 22, 2024

The movie episodes are always a good breather from the heavier topics

J
Jonathan Grafton · May 22, 2024

Keep the movie bonus episode, as long as it helps prevent burnout

J
Joey · May 22, 2024

I’m an uncultured swine so movie episodes really don’t do anything for me. Something went off with my wiring in college and I started to use jstor for comfort reading and history YouTube and documentaries for comfort TV

M
Markus D · May 22, 2024

I enjoy the history stuff more consistently but I also wouldn't rule out movies entirely. Since history episodes require research and movies don't, I think that they're good to give Joe a break if he'd prefer that. For me, it really depends on the movie, like the "In the Army Now" review totally lost me because I hadn't seen it and was never in the army, but even though I hadn't seen Waterloo or Napoleon (2023) there was still a lot to talk about in terms of trivia and focused criticisms, for want of a better way to put it.

r
ruin · May 22, 2024

I like the movie episodes but I'd be fine with less of them. That being said I'd also like an Aliens bonus episode at some point.

J
Jesse Eldridge · May 22, 2024

Will it still be a zoo crew episode? That’s the most important thing

B
Bill Preci · May 22, 2024

I do prefer history episodes but I would hate to do away with the movie episodes altogether. But also I don't have time to watch movies these days so if it's one a haven't seen i might skip the episode anyway.

L
LensWipe · May 22, 2024

I enjoy listening to you guys enjoying yourselves, so either works for me. I'm sure that the continuous flow of historical study to churn out content must be difficult on a number of levels, so really don't overstrain yourselves.

M
Massimo Lotruglio · May 22, 2024

I honestly just skip sharpes show and gundam series.

M
Markus D · May 22, 2024

I've been listening to Sharpe Show because I enjoyed the Romecast, but Gundam is just not the kind of thing I'm into or have much frame of reference for.

I
Ian DeSoucey · May 22, 2024

Mixing up lions led by robots to be both Gundam and movies is a good compromise for me. I like the bonuses to be just history

A
Aviv Vig · May 22, 2024

Make it be like school. Often history, but sometimes the teacher is a bit hung over and just wants to put on a movie

M
Michael Cali · May 22, 2024

Maybe do some historical movies. I loved the napoleon review

K
Karl Childers · May 22, 2024

you've really got something special here with the history content -- it's not that i dislike the movie episodes, but movie podcasts are a dime a dozen. LLBD history eps are a truly unique balance of being informative yet also fun yet also bleak at the same time, honestly there's no other show like this and that's what keeps me coming back.

f
floatybirb · May 22, 2024

I think you should pick whatever option you think is the most fun, or best for your mental balance.

L
LifesAHaskell · May 22, 2024

I just want more variety in the bonuses tbh. A movie episode every month has gotten kinda old, but theres definitely a plethora of funny historical stories to do. What might be cool to see is Francis running you guys through a D&D one shot or something.

M
MerusMetraton · May 22, 2024

I second the notion! Y'all talk a lot about Warhammer 40k so why not go full nerd and do a one-shot? Anything to get Tom and Nate to do accents and voices please

K
Kyle Lumsden · May 22, 2024

More LLBD radicalization episodes imo

M
Mack Lamirand · May 22, 2024

I do enjoy the zoo crew episodes. What those episodes happen to be about matters less to me.

M
MaCa · May 22, 2024

Not completely against movie-based episodes, but I would prefer more history content.

V
Valerie Christine · May 22, 2024

Half of what I enjoy is just listening to y'all talk, and the movies are a nice break from the horrors of history (as if that isn't what we've signed up for in the first place), plus I like hearing your takes on things pop culture so my true vote is at least the occasional movie; but also with everyone else on, do what you enjoy and we'll listen 😆 (love how considerate everyone is being)

V
Val Vailand · May 22, 2024

I do enjoy the occasional movie episode as it adds some levity in the midst of discussing some rather grim subjects.

H
Harry D Richardson · May 22, 2024

I'm here for the reality of history. I have no significant interest in most movies or TV shows.

E
Evan Andrews · May 22, 2024

Movies could be a fun treat sometimes, but I don’t know about on a regular basis.

C
Cynical Spunkferret · May 22, 2024

I'm the cursed friend in my group that doesn't like anime so I guess the movie could be replaced, but I was also spoiled for years by hellofaway's "is it fascist?" movie reviews so I suppose I'd like an extra history show but honestly I just love listening to you guys riff on whatever so do what feels best

B
Borisoff72 · May 22, 2024

An occasional movie episode is fine but yes, I could see most of them replaced.

I
I_like_planes_and_cities · May 22, 2024

This might be the one time.i might be against democracy if the “no movie” party wins. There will be a coupe. It'll be bloody. Idk how but ill figure it out.

J
John Henry Vincent · May 22, 2024

I prefer a balance, where sometimes it's an extra history episode and sometimes it's a movie. Really make it a surprise what we get.

D
Deweycat · May 22, 2024

you could do a "two in one" and review more movies of historical events. I suggest the 2001 Michael Bay documentary "Pearl Harbor", which stands as the pinnacle of historically accurate reenactments.

v
vasileos efthymiadis · May 22, 2024

d

I'd be honestly happy with ever. Movies seems like less research. TBH if you just do either depending on how you're feeling that month it's fine with me.

s
sistertotherain9 · May 22, 2024

Whatever works for you? I don't watch a lot of movies but it seems like you guys have fun discussing them, so I listen for that even when I've never heard of the movie.

Z

I love the dumb history. It literally makes me laugh out loud (which I’m sure my neighbours now think I’m crazy laughing to myself walking the dog). There’s tons of movie podcasts out there. More history please! 🙏🏻

J
John the penguin · May 22, 2024

I would like an episode on the Netflix all quiet on the western front movie though

S
Salubrious_George · May 22, 2024

Nothing wrong with occasional movie eps, especially if it's more convenient for you to organise, but I voted for more history

R
Ryan Grannan · May 22, 2024

I’d prefer more history, but it depends on the work load. I imagine the research for the history episodes is a little more intensive than the movie episodes, and I’m sure we’d all hate for you to get over worked.

J
James · May 22, 2024

I wouldn’t like to lose movies permanently but I’m mostly here for the history. It would be great to have a movie episode every 2-4 months maybe (doesn’t have to be consistent, would maybe make sense to have more movies around busy times of the year and more history when you have more time?) but generally more history

M
Mads · May 22, 2024

History or movie, it doesn't matter. As long the zoo crew are there!

K
Kaine Houchens · May 22, 2024

If y'all do cancel the movie episodes, could y'all attempt to wrap up G Gundam since y'all are about half way thru the show?

E
Edward Martin-Smith · May 22, 2024

Voted history, but I love the Zoo Crew and don't want to lose that! Maybe alternate months between movie/history, or do episodes on slightly shorter topics to leave space for banter and nonsense?

M

C
CS · May 22, 2024

B
Ben · May 22, 2024

I kind of want both, why not combine the two? Mix the movie with whatever dumb history it's based on? Yes I'm aware that probably makes it twice as hard to do the one episode but I'm not the one that has to do it so it seems totally reasonable.
