Trash Idol UI, and a weird Patreon update...
Today was a lot of fun! I sat down and started building the UI for the first menu - wherein the game host inputs the trash numbers:
the two fields below each name represents the total trash collected, and the total number of players on that team. The game calculates the winners based on how much trash per person is collected - this means even teams with a small number of players has a chance to win!
based on conversations I had with the trash collecting organizations, they all go by different measurements on how they collect! So down in the center, the game host will select bin, pounds, or kilos to keep the game adaptable!
You can also see I made some logos for each of the idols. Here's the large version, in case you're curious.
tomorrow I'm gonna be making this menu actually interactive. Funsies!
A weird Patreon Update...
If anyone has a Patreon, you may have gotten an email from the company a couple of days ago about BIG new changes being made to the platform. I wasn't super clear on how this will affect my work, but creator and supporter accounts will be merged, and everyone will get some kind of new home feed that shares posts from accounts you don't support or follow. This is supposed to encourage discoverability but really looks like Patreon is trying to become more like a social media platform. I have strangely not heard that much discussion around it yet (granted it's only been two days) but thought I'd let you know that it's happening, and I'll keep looking into what that means? Anyway...
That's all for today! Here's your sign-off joke:
My parrot passed away. I'm very sad, but it's also a big weight off my shoulders

I love the icons for the idols!! It all looks so good! Honestly on mobile I’ve noticed since supporting you if I go to the home page it’s been recommending new posts and new accounts. I’m sure there’s some benefit to helping creators be discovered… but it was very social media-y to me u.u hopefully they don’t get too crazy with it!
this update sounds like nobody really wants to use or interact with Patreon the way they are tooling it up to be. It's going to be a mandatory update soon, so I'm a little worried.
omg i thought a bird died fr 😭😭
noooo haha no birds were harmed in the telling of this joke
Girl you are so talented!! <3
I think mine updated already and the new feed they've installed is so bad. Honestly, I don't care about finding new people to support through here. Patreon is where I go to support creators I like from elsewhere, even if they don't upload regularly on here but off platform instead. The new feed they have is so much clutter. It gets in the way of seeing the content I'm actually paying for. So real question then, do you post all the patreon stuff over on your kofi?
I'm the exact same way! I only check patreon to post my stuff and to check out the other few people I support. I see what they're trying to do but like why would anyone want to see stuff they *didn't* pay for? In terms of ko-fi, yep; I always post the exact same stuff on both accounts!
So cool
