A Quilted Course Emerges!
Last night I was tossing and turning; I had made a couple of sample holes for mini-mini-mini golf but I was very unsatisfied with them; visually they resembled a golf course, but the handcrafted elements felt awkward and out of place. I woke up in a fit and went to the computer. I wondered what it would look like if I made one big, quilted course!
Instead of finishing one hole and moving on to the next, the ball would traverse over the same landscape from hole to hole on a singular quilted piece....
I was immediately sold on the idea! Then in my sleepy haze it dawned on me that I had only 48 hours to make it happen. (Whatever I make has to be in Salem Tuesday evening!!!)
As you can imagine, today was quite hectic! I essentially had to quilt and assemble the entire game into one table-size course.
Here's how far I got! I LOVE ITTTT!!!!! Oh my god I'm freaking out...it could have gone so badly haha. The piecing was obviously very time consuming, but having the full course built on all those textures together just looks so freaking awesome. It exactly fixes the problem I was having with the first attempt.
While tomorrow is going to be a similarly intense scramble, I am certain I can finish the course before the evening. Here's what's left:
Sew the interior barriers of the course (that's what all that extra long strip is for)
sew extra buttons, bows, embellishments, etc to act as obstacles
paint the marbles I have so they look distinct
print out a score card, a sign, and laminate them
cut out the holes and secure them!
if there is time, test out making putters out of pencils and hot glue (By the next playtest day, I will have laser cut wood putters, but I don't have access to a machine for this until later in the month!)
That's all for now guys, I'm heading to bed so I can be up early for my big day tomorrow. Thank you as always for following along and supporting me! Here's your sign-off joke:
Q: Where do criminals buy their sporting equipment?

It's extremely cute and if you can finish it all then brava, but also, ain't no shame in hot gluing some of those embellishments/obstacles
