Sunspire Sanctum Interior
A small group rode into town only days ago, strangers the lot of them. Most avoided the temple of Aashkana, but we were surprised to see two of them dismount their horses and immediately enter the main doors, pass the vestibule, and head to the altar. One, adorned in cloth, with a holy book around his neck, and the other, steelclad from head to toe, a sword at every strap point that his armor could support.
The two began to pray... But as unusual a sight this would have been to me, the most unusual experience was the true duality of prayers to our divine benefactor.
The Clothed One began: "Please, forgive me of my failures. They strengthen my resolve to have your word be heard. Those blind to your ways should see the light and bask in it's comfort."
In synchronicity, the Ironclad spoke: "Thank you for the strength you've given me to defeat thy enemies. I pray that I have the strength to continue on and provide such victories to you, and to silence those who threaten you."
The Clothed One: "I believe you will provide us the strength to shed your light upon the world. I pledge to speak your word and protect any that would hear it."
The Ironclad: "I am your hand that crushes the depths of despair, so that others may show a light unseen. I will vanquish those who would stifle your gifts, so that they may be seen by all."
Such utterances in such contrast together was rare enough an event for one such as I, a mere acolyte, to stand in awe... but in the midst of it all, they had one more surprise to give.
Together they stood. They made the symbol of Aashkana against their hands, then in unison uttered the final pledge to our benefactor: "May Aashanka judge us worthy of her embrace."
