what's happening?

disclaimer: attached is a WiP sketch for new amelia sprite, info below. TL;DR: spin-off project is happening, new artist is LewdJoy, specifics are below

hey guys - big announcement, stream of conscioussness format. Some good, some bad.

we'll start with the bad; we have no contact with Nomo at all as of a few months ago. he's gone completely silent and we are unable to contact him - not going to go too much into the details on this, but it is what it is. Nds and I have managed to get what control we can of the patreon and we hope to do the same for the discord server.

In terms of logistics and all that, our current plan is to try and migrate everyone over to a new patreon that we have sole control of. It's not ideal, but once again it is what it is. It's not great becuase of the the annoyance and tediousness of doing it, and we lose the founder plan of patreon that had slightly lower fees than the current ones. The reason we want to do this though is simple: we want to have full control of the project going forward.

So what this is going to look like is the original patreon + a new patreon running in tandem, side by side. All of the stuff will be released on both, and there will be no difference between the two. After a period of time (6 months is what we're thinking, we'll do the final details when we open the new one), we'll turn off the original one, and hopefully everyone will have migrated over. We'll include a 'please migrate to the new patreon etcetc' spiel with each post we do. Now for the good - the spinoff that was mentioned and discussed a bit is definitively what we're going to do.

And to do that, we've brought on an artist for the project - LewdJoy. He's got some great work, and I think his style is going to be fantastic for this. At the end of the post I'll include some samples of his work, his twitter, and you can say hi to him on the discord and all that jazz.

Joy enjoys sharing wips, so WiP posts on patreon will be common and consistent, likely a once-a-week thing on a certain day. Details for this TBD as we get underway.

the patreon tiers might be adjusted as we go forward, again also TBD. The highest tier with name-a-char will be unavailable, and I'll be contacting those that did not receive their named character in KoD and if they are amenable to it, we'll include it in this spin-off project.

now, with the housekeeping stuff out of the way, let's get a bit more into what the project is gonna be:

Set sometime before KoD (~10 years or so), primarily in Avarton, it's going to follow Amelia as she moves in to the town and sets up shop in the brothel, and sets up a network of agents in the shadows. It was hinted at in KoD, that Amelia is a bit more than what she first seems, and she obviously knew a lot more than she let on to Sabia

We're planning two parts to this project:

part a) a light brothel sim/manager, where Amelia deals with some of the minutia of running the brothel with Fennasil as her figurehead, dealing with clients and her employees, and forging some relationships with those characters.

part b) a more focused storyline of Amelia setting up agents and a network in the shadows to ensure her goals, both massive and minor. One of the major antagonists for her will be Jasmine from KoD.

edit: just to clarify, the brothel sim/management is not the gameplay focus, it will just be a light addition incorporated into the game. This will still be a choice-based game.

Similar to KoD, quests and goals will be able to be completed via different ways, though unlike KoD there will be no distinct sub or dom path. Amelia is a succubus after all! She can swing both ways, as she judges what will work best on her prey. For example though; we might have a quest where a troublesome lieutenant in a gang is proving difficult for Amelia to gain control of an area of the slums. She might be able to resolve it with money (if the brothel is making enough), she might be able to resolve it with sex herself, she might be able to threaten him, she might be able to offer some free rounds at the brothel.

The immediate plan with the project is for Joy to do sprites for Amelia, Fennasil, possibly Jasmine, a brothel background, and the intro scene. The rest of the art will be re-used assets, that will be replaced as we catch up on it. Using some of the old assets will allow us to much more quickly start the project and have a playable intro than if we were to do all of the art from scratch.
