How to Fake Polyphonic Pressure on any MIDI controller // Synth tip/trick
Hi!
My book started as a summary of tips and ideas in my videos, and over time, it overtook the content in my videos with plenty of book-only exclusives.
A while back, I added this tip/trick/idea to the book, but I felt like it needed a companion video, so I decided to sneak this short video in.
IMHO, one of the most useful features in MPE controllers is the ability to detect your finger's location from the moment you first apply pressure to a key - letting you expressively control the transient and level/mod depth of your sound in real time, over time - letting your fingers be the envelopes.
The price you pay to get this capability is often a non-standard keyboard (with Polybrute 12 being the noteworthy exception, and Osmose kind of getting halfway there), and a hefty price tag, with no exceptions.
This video is about a little trick you can try on any MIDI keyboard and with most synths, to "fake" polyphonic pressure control.
Is it exactly the same as the real thing? No, but if you try it, I think you'll like it!
All my best,
Ziv (posting what may be the only case a fake is a good thing, on a youtube channel called "Loopop"...)

Hello, cool idea! Vital is not on IOS and I'm a beginner in making music with an Ipad, just using Loopy pro so far. Is there an AUv3-App that can do the same thing you explained in this video? Thx for any help.
Thanks! Sorry I’m not that familiar with iPad synths
Whaaat?! No way! Brilliant hack!
