September 2025 Book Update!

Dear Waveshapers,

I hope you're doing well - the September 2025 book update is here!

I've been getting quite a few requests over the years for a chapter on music theory. Obviously entire books can be written about the topic, and I wouldn't consider theory a particular area of expertise of mine. Also, there's so much content out there about the topic already, I don't think the world needs more music theory text.

However, at least in the way I was introduced to music theory, there was rarely a benefit attached to the topic at hand. So, I thought I could add some sort value with a slightly different approach. Rather than cover abstract music theory concepts (I won’t explain topics your favorite AI can tell you about), I'll share practical ideas and tips that I use, and might inspire your music, in the way other chapters in this book might inspire your sound.

Even if nothing here is new to you, hopefully it will inspire you to try one or two ideas, I guess kind of like working out, we know we should do it, but this might give a little push to actually get off our butt and play with some ideas we've not tried for a while.

I hope you find this useful, and let me know if you'd like more. I promise to do my best not to just cover the theory, but how the theory can work for you, rather than the other way around. It starts on Page 364, or just search for the string SEP2025.

Oh and besides reading the update you might want to make some time for one or two very long videos coming up soon...

Until then, as usual but never taken for granted, thanks for being here!

All my best,

Ziv / Loopop
