Monthly Sketchbook - October 2025
Hey y'all so October was hectic and ended with surgery as mentioned in the last post. While I am still recovering and trying to ramp back up to normal work things I have some sketches to share from the last month.
Not a ton here and a lot that has been shared around but that's alright, I'll opine about them a bit anyways.
Firstly there is a Pikachu sketch I did for a commission. This was fun and apparently a version of the character I never knew existed.
The next couple of pages are just some random noodling on some ideas for things. I do this a lot and while most never get much further than the sketch some I circle back to or expand on for a patron postcard or something else down the line. It's weird how it all works lol.
After that, all hopped up on the new Final Fantasy Tactics release and my love of the game rekindled I had an idea for something in a similar vein but using more animal characters and things. This resulted in me sharing a random BlueSky post about it which in turn gained a lot of interest which was unexpected haha. So I went about my business and started sketching some characters and sharing those and now the interest has grown more and I am currently trying to write a sort of design doc for my thoughts on what this game could/should be and then I will be sharing that with the folks who have reached out about the project and who knows, I guess we will see if it goes further.
I think the idea is fun in giving sort of quick hit/bite sized tactics gameplay with a fun setting without needing to commit a ton of time at any one session. I would love to try and join this loop with some of the elements I love in rogue lite games like Hades and such to try and do something unique or interesting to me.
Anyways as always I will keep you all in the loop as best I can and keep drawing silly things. I will hopefully be able to get this month's postcard art underway soon as well which I will make the post for then. Now I am off to rest a bit more. Thank you all for the continued support as times continue to get tougher. Take care of yourselves and each other.
