Mid month check in
Hey folks,
Just wanted to stop by with some updates on things and where I'm at.
So I am currently working on a list of ideas for patreon changes, updates, additions etc. This is normal to folks who've been here a while as every year I like to re-assess what I do here and see if there are any new and fun things I can try or things that maybe weren't hitting how I'd hoped. My goal with this all is to find a nice way to make this patreon as interesting and fun for you all to support as it is for me to create. A big focus for me when thinking about some of the things I'd like to try this year is more ways to make the patreon a better place for interaction. building the community and letting folks get involved with some of things I have in mind. Once I get the list more nailed down I'll make a more focused post about it all and we can rap about what everyone thinks and how things may shake out.
Outside of this I had surgery last week which slowed me down a little bit but I'm fine. Just recovering and working on some client stuff I had, albeit a bit slower than usual haha.
Lastly I am also working on a personal brand refresh that will spill into a website update and all that stuff. I worked through some sketching and logo ideas and landed on this.

Dude! The new logo is awesome. I'm always shocked at how good your logos come out. Every one is always so clean! Hope your surgery wasn't anything apocalyptic and I'm glad you're fine. As for what to do to shake up the patreon, I'm always of the mind that it's not entirely necessary to make this so interactive. I like to sit back and let my favorite creators do what I'm already a fan of: create. However, I have been trying to convince other creatives to build their own brand and IP's. Maybe an art book, maybe a sketchbook, maybe something to do with KnightLight? A sick 50-ish page, perfect bound lore book with art and stories would be epic. If you shifted in that direction, you could do the monthly pinup with the goal of putting it in the book, and you can still send it out. Maybe no sticker, and focus on more detailed, more refined pieces for the book? Just some thoughts.
Thanks man, as always I appreciate the feedback. I think for me I definitely want to do stuff like what you're mentioning for sure but I also just personally am a fan as a creative of just that interaction. Probably a result of working solo freelance for so long I like getting a bit of community time somewhere lol. I do always want to make sure that anything I implement as additive and not subtractive to the base/core experience and goal of what the patreon is which when boiled down is me exploring my own characters and worlds with a new illustration every month. Those becoming prints was a bonus as were the stickers but that will always stick around. The new ideas I have are more so fun ways to let folks in and also little things that can be an alternative creative outlet which keeps a light schedule and in turn can be shared outside the walls of the patreon as well to hopefully bring more folks in and ultimately grow what we have here if possible.
