[TUTORIAL] Arrays & Shaders: Heatmaps in Unity
http://www.alanzucconi.com/2016/01/27/arrays-shaders-heatmaps-in-unity3d/
This tutorial explains how to pass arrays to shaders in Unity. This feature has been present for a long time, but is mostly undocumented. Unity 5.4.0 Beta 1 will introduce a proper API to pass arrays to shaders; this technique however will work with any previous version.
Step 1: The arrays
Step 2: The shader
Step 3: The C# code
Step 4: A more general approach

thanks very much for your email. how can I activate the heatmap though? I have imported the package to project. I am still fairly new to Unity. I have previously used heatmap that can be activated with mouse clicks or 360 volumetric heatmaps tracking game object movements. Your tutorial is very impressive but I was wondering what I need to do to activate this. Thanks very much for your time.
sorry security settings gone wrong it seems - look forward to try the package. your time is much appreciated.
I've sent you an email!
When I click on the linked file, I get a 'copy file name' instruction rather than being able to download
That's the preview for Google Drive! On the top right you should see a down arrow icon! If you click on it it'll let you download the entire file!
It seems that when I follow your link I am unable to download it when I click on it...
Hi Alan, are you able to share the files for the Arrays & Shaders: Heatmaps in Unity tutorial as a zip instead of tar? Much appreciated. Best
Hi! Thank you for joining! The file you are referring to is a unitypackage. Unity packages are actually zip files which contain a lot of other stuff inside (including a tar file!). But that's not how you want to use it. To unpack it, you'll need to import it into Unity! Otherwise you won't be able to make it work!
